Pay Per Mile - What Do You Think?

I've done 304 miles on 2 trips in the last 6 days, they can do 1 at 4p per mile, I paid £70 to top up with fuel twice, still got plenty left, bad enough with ULEZ, not that I pay it but in the zone. road tax keeps increasing too, wait till the Budget, they reckon fuel duty will go up 🤬 just as petrol prices are coming down a bit.

At present, I'm getting hammered for owning a 20-year-old diesel car, but how the hell am I going to afford an EV at the prices they are? Maybe they think we're all millionaires like them RSMF

Hi Andy. Assuming they are basing the charges on average mileage, I’m normally well under it so I’d be up for changing. If you have a mobile phone you’re probably already monitored by something.

It's not the charging per mile that gets me, it's the tracking it would take to enforce it. That was what I was trying to get over RSMF

hi andy nice ride out mate if i have read sky news right .the tax is suggested for low emissions cars ie electric.if I am wrong that both of us in jail...on retirement.age limit was 66 for wife and me .I am telling sons .they will finish work and straight into grave yard if it keeps going as is .feel sorry for the younger generations now ..daughter just had interview for retail job ..8 vacancy's..250 people applyed .had to shut there website down to stop people applying.. open 2 days only ...old dave

Electric cars are going to be taxed early next year and the shortfall from not being taxed is going to be taken up by petrol and diesel motorists. P.S. As for pay per mile, it's only another way of robbing you and tracking you RSMF

They need to fix roads first. But really if no one pays it they can’t prosecute everyone and I don’t know how they will enforce it. The state of the roads are worth about 5 pence per 500 miles anyway

Have to agree with what you've said, trust me as I work on traffic management, you wouldn't believe the wastage of our money that is thrown down the drain by these incompetent idiots RSMF
