@@richardcurant454 Let's figure out your disgusting deception by repeating lies as part of the 30mph brigade shall we ? Because you are travelling at 30mph instead of 20mph then you need to check your speedometer more often because every 10 seconds or so you will travel further at 30 rather than 20 - there will be more occasions where a child may step out onto the road for example. You are right, looking at your speedo more often does increase danger so 30mph becomes more dangerous. And because 30mph is far more likely to kill someone then you need to keep a check on your speed even more often. With 20mph you are less likely to kill anyone so you can relax on watching the speedo a bit and check out the road as you should do. Does that squash that ridiculous lie of yours ?

Stopping distance for an EV Car at 30mph is the same as the stopping distance for an ICE Car at 50mph. EVs are not safe on the roads at 30mph due to their excessive weight - all part of the agenda to get all to drive EV and then they crash the EV agenda world wide as it cannot be achieved. In the words of THE W£F puppet-masters of the worlds govts (Sunak, Drakeford, Khan, Starmer = all W£F C0CKPUPP£T$) - *_"YOU WIL OWN NOTHING, YOU WILL GO NOWHERE AND BE HAPPY"_* I live in Wales and now most are ignoring the 20mph Limit BS and driving at 30-35mph and most people that used to obey the 20mph school zones are now ignoring them completely. Cyclists are very worried as the drivers obeying the 20mph BS will not over take a cyclist because a car needs to be at 25-30mph to over take a cyclist and it is causing huge tailbacks behind cyclists and the cyclists are getting very scared. Pedestrians are also scared now as they cannot cross the roads as the cas are driving too close to each other where they obey the 20 mph BS - 20mph = more congestion, more pollution, more accidents (vehicles and pedestrians), more engine damage, more fuel usage. It has cost £32 million so far to change the signs and they have barely scratched the surface - road need speeds repainted also - we now have 20mph / 30mph signs on the same roads everywhere and nearly all road paintings stilll say 30mph ( next to 20mph roadsigns so very often)

I think we'll see those 20mph limits everywhere over the next few years. Around here we've already seen quite a few and loads of national speed limit roads have reduced to 50mph and quite a few to 40mph. It's getting hard to get anywhere. There are places where it's reasonable but it seems overkill to do it everywhere. When I was a child they taught the green cross code. I can go a lot faster than 20mph on my bicycle. The risk of injury in an accident with a pedestrian is a lot lower (though not impossible) but because a bicycle doesn't have to have a speedo there's no specific speed limit problem.

20mph is sensible around schools and is already in place in some cities in UK. I was In Glasgow recently and they already have it. As long as it’s localised and implemented sensibly I don’t have a problem with it. Problem for me is that you spend more time checking your speedo which is infinitely more difficult on a motorbike than in a car as your speedo isn’t generally in your line of vision. ULEZ is a bit more contentious and even Labour seem uncomfortable with the way it’s been implemented. Personally, nothing could persuade me to drive in London these days and I normally take public transport or taxis when I’m visiting London.

You probably know The Strand in Wherstead is 60 mph and accidents galore inc deaths. I think that should be 40 mph. Agree ULEZ is rubbish, Hate London anyway.

The improved braking of modern cars is a good thing, but you must remember that many drivers, who kill or seriously injure people, don’t even apply the brakes before the impact. If people are looking at their phone, or fiddling with the screen in their car, or suffering from dementia or poor eyesight, and reluctant to give up driving, or drunk, or on drugs, it’s much better for those people to be driving at 20, rather than 30. And it’s worth bearing in mind that, in Wales, in 2022, more than 2,000 people were either killed or seriously injured in a 30mph limit. If your X3 is shuddering in 3rd, at 20mph, you need to get it looked at, because this is not normal. Probably either needs a transmission fluid change, or you’ve pressed the 20mph limiter button and you’re trying to exceed 20mph.
