I've clicked through so many videos, through so many incredible, weird ambient landscapes... I feel like I'm going on a train trip, seeing a succession of crazy, never-before-seen scenes from history, important, weird musics through the window as I pass... there's so much to explore. So many places to alight and dwell in the ambiences that are on offer. This stop, in particular, is brilliant

There are three outstanding documents of the rediscovery of Rameau's stage music - Nadia Boulanger's 1950 LP, Gardiners late 1970's Prom performance of Les Boreades, and this 2007 Prom, which must be one of the greatest of all Proms. At the moment, this is the only one freely available in any form. When you compare it with the currently available DVD of Les Paladins there's no doubt at all who gets their Rameau right and who has no idea how to. The BBC should get this on to DVD now.

Remarquable Gardiner!! I saw this for the first time when it was broadcast on British television. I tend to be immensely purist, (i'm getting on these days) but I watch this, and I am elated that the art of dance and Rameau's beautiful music can be combined with a modern homage to Baroque movement dance and it work so well. I must be mellowing. I do hope not. Here's something else I've observed. Imagine for one moment that Sir Jphn Elliot G, is not the conductor, but is brought on to the rostrum and told to dance to the music. I see him dancing only and I love what he does. And coincidentally, the orchestra follows him. Try it.
