Modric and VDV were exceptional at this point as well. But I know what you are saying. I feel this way about Bale's entire 12/13 form. Absolutely incredible to watch each week. Suarez was the same in 13/14. It's not necessarily meant to be disrespectful when you say "average team," the point is that they had no right to be performing and pushing the team/teams around them in the way they did with the squad they had. Once i was kid and had flu so i had chance to watch late champions league game because next day i was supposed to miss school and this game was on TV ,remember like it was yesterday , full of emotions watching first time gareth bale as a left back and this amazing performance against inter(i am ac milan fan ) made me fan of him , i watched spurs games in pl ,in 2013 he was in his prime but then when he moved in real madrid , he became system player and all this individuality vanished , his driblings, long passes , he became a good world class right forward but individually very limited footballer.
