I did this with a 4ft level front to back and side to side. You can use two different color sharpie's to indicate each bubble location so you can imitate the boats natural floating position when floating. Then recreate with trailer jack and if fish by yourself like me you'll need a bottle jack to lift the trailer slightly to immitate you being in the boat. Now you can adjust transducer using a 6 inch level.

It’s not perfect because you may have more people, full live well etc but I saw improvement. Mine was pretty far off for awhile. The first time I used the coins and torpedo level method, little hard to do while driving 😂. Thanks for the comment, have a great day!!!

Just having a little fun with ya. Serious question though. i bought a new boat with dual Echomap UHD2 93sv's. I have heard that the 93's were for inland lakes and such, and the 94's were for costal waters. Seeing as i live on Long Island ,I'm not going to be on a lake any time soon. Is the difference only in the software or will the 93's be ok for inshore?@@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 10 ай бұрын
The only difference between a 93 and 94 in the original echomap was the pre loaded map. A 3 designated lake vu maps and a 4 designated blue chart maps for coastal water. Originally the UHD2 was mapped with both similar to the Ultra series but I see looking at the website they split them out. I would say your best choice would be to purchase the Navionics plus or Navionics vision plus for coastal waterways. Call Garmin 800 800-1020 and ask them if it would be better to purchase a physical card or download version as there may be a conflict with the preloaded maps. The support call line is really good, use the callback feature and they will get back to you normally within an hour

I did this and my down vision and side scan were a little fuzzy. When I tilted the back of the transducer a little bit down in the back so it was shooting ahead a little, I got a much clearer picture. My advice is get the side to side right on and then select the closest position to level without shimming that is either level, or shooting toward the bow slightly.

@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Жыл бұрын
It will be off a little depending on the size of your boat. all you can do is get it as close as you can for most conditions. Things like speed, weight, wind, current all come into play but if you get close the other effects will be lessened. If it’s way off to begin with you never really get the best out of the equipment. Adding a second person won’t change it drastically or maybe none depending on size of the boat and speed. If your in a kayak then yes it will make a difference 🤣

I troll and spend most of my time in the back of the boat. Should I set my level on the transom or floor in the back where I am to get the initial bubble set? Would this give me the most accurate reading while trolling? This is a 20 foot aluminum.
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t matter where you set the level as long as you put it back in the same place at home, that’s the important piece is getting it back in the same spot. It’s never perfect because you may have extra people , gear, water in the live wells etc, but if you get it close it does help.

I purchased the IHandycarpenter app to level my transducer but I'm can't figure out how to use it like explained on the video . Can you explain please?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Sure once the app is open touch any part of the screen and select the bullseye from the menu options that pop up. Then set your phone screen up on a surface level or not and touch the calibrate button. If the calibrate and hold buttons do not appear on the screen touch the information icon in the corner of the screen to go to the menu screen and select them. To test set your phone on surface that is not level and touch calibrate. The bubble should go to the center of the bullseye. Leave the app running in the background and it holds that calibration until reset, thank you for the comment!!!

Do you ever talk about the trolling motor transducer install and what to expect if one does it this way?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve mentioned it in other videos and the newsletter that clear and side view sonar beams are a narrow oval rather than a round cone like traditional 2D, for that reason they are not very effective when turned side to side making the image very blurry. Personally I network the clear and side view to read off the transducer mounted on the transom and only use the transducer on the trolling motor for traditional 2D which is not as sensitive to being level. Thanks for watching!!

Garmin says to mount it in plane with the bottom of the boat. But you are saying tilt the back upward so it's level while you are scanning. Correct?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Yes basically, but it depends on the attitude (tilt) of your boat when you are traveling at a comfortable idle 4-7 mph. Some boats loaded with gear might tilt higher in the bow than others that’s why it’s best to get a level and survey your vessel on the water. Obviously it will never be perfect for every condition but as with anything else if you have a solid baseline it helps. The video below will help explain the importance of a leveled transducer.kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4XVoIqel7Kfi7s Have a great day!!

@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Жыл бұрын
Don’t get the bolt too tight, it’s designed to “flip up” if you hit something. My transducer does the same when I’m up on plane, some add high speed transducers to combat that issue. If you’re blinking below 10-15mph I’d say there’s a different problem. Have a great day Bill!!

will a uhd transducer work on a regular 93sv?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Жыл бұрын
Yes, in some cases it will. I still have one of the 93sv plus units that I use with a GT54, if your planning to use a GT56 I’m not 100% sure. I would call Garmin to confirm if there are any performance differences based on your unit serial number, use the call back feature and they will get back ahold of you within an hour. 800 800-1020, I don’t have access to look up by serial number

Once you are at speed desired and hit calibrate , do you hit hold ? Do you just shut the app down and when you get home will it come back where you were in the boat when you restart the app ?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to press hold, all your doing is calibrating the bullseye to center at the angle on the boat while your at the desired speed. I’d recommend leaving the app run in the background and not completely closing out of it. You can switch to other apps or use you phone to make calls. Like I mentioned in the video play with it, you can pick a spot on a table and put a magazine or something under one end of your phone and play around with it to get comfortable with how to use the app before you head out on the water. Have a great day, holler back if you have any other questions.

@@DoubleTFishing so after hiting calibrate button , I go home and lift or lower the jack till level ? What if I just read the numbers on the app when in the desired position on the water , write them down and duplicate when I get home , then level the transducer ?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 жыл бұрын
I see no reason that wouldn’t work just as well without actually recalibrate the phone app if that’s more comfortable for you. I’m a visual person so I like to see the bullseye in the center lol. Just be sure you get the phone in the same place on the deck and the top of it is pointed in the same direction as it was on the water, I almost made that mistake.
