hi, this kind of videos are always helpful but they would improve a massive lot if you added a wrong turn to show how every GPS recalculates, or not, the route

Excellent and informative video, thanks! Just bought my 1040 from Tredz and looking to trying it out. As a side note, I thought I recognised some of those roads. Then saw the Nav screen and realised it was my old stomping ground, having grown up in South Warnborough and attending Robert Mays in Odiham. Small world!

I found the music really distracting and the information too quick and and a little vague. How do you stop after a ride to record it? I'm still learning how to use my 1040..

Thanks, much appreciated, I don't like those arrows / chevrons on the course line, dislike them even more on my current smaller 530 screen and was hoping they might become smaller / optional for the 1040 (the course following "screen shots" on Garmin websites marketing the 1040 have much smaller chevrons, maybe they are just "artists impressions"?). Otherwise my mature eyes are calling out for a bigger screen, I guess I had better start saving for the substantial 1040 price. Thanks again.

Thanks! I wish I'd seen this before I took my first ride. The Garmin unit comes with virtually no "how to" info. My first ride was pretty frustrating. It's way more configurable (and useful) than I thought. I do wonder how you can plan out a route and then change it out there. For instance, if you plan a 30mile route and then aren't feeling up to it - it would be nice to be able to say "take me shortest route back". Any ideas?

Wouldn't it be great if you could hear the beeps and noises of the Garmin insead of that terrible music.

Does the 1040 have speakable turn by turn map directions ?

Hi great video, I'm using my 1040 for gravel riding and this is the 1st time I've really used navigation even though I'm a long term user of Garmin products. I have lots of routes that have been planned lin Strava and have ported across to my device, but the problems start when I try and ride a course..... I always have multiple magenta lines even though the popularity map is turned off? Do you have any advice on settings within the device that would be a good starting point for any navigation? Cheers

Can you change the data fields on the Turn Navigation Screen that pops up? Like my own new 1040, the data fields are Heading and Time To Turn. I have no need for Heading. Would prefer Distance To Next.

@Endurance Sweat - I suspect not as i've never seen a way to change these on any previous Edge devices. If I find a way i'll update.

Thanks for the demonstration. I did not any navigation feature / aspect that is different that the 1030 plus, 830 or 530. Navigation is exactly the same, except for the interface, of course.
