I have been cursing my Garmin for months on account of this problem. I can't believe the fix was so easy! Thank you!!

oh man thanks a lot! I tried all the methods in the forum post for the FR610 and was unable to get the charging back. Luckily someone linked this you tube video and I used olive oil and a paper clip to dissolve whatever gunk was in the charger plate. This allowed the contact to "spring up" and make the necessary contact to the back of the watch and presto - charging nicely now. I am sure I will have to do this again in future and am glad to have this info!

Thank you! I suspected that the problem was with the contacts, but couldn't think of a way to get the contact out. Your solution worked even without the oil.

Just used this on my 610 with some bike chain lubricant (dupont chain saver) and it did the trick. Thanks! I've become consistently less impressed with Garmin's engineering over time

You are a genius! I was struggling to get mine charged and even considering sending it to Garmin but then I saw you video. Tried it and worked like a charm. Thank you so much!

ThanksTim! I was down a couple of days and ready to send my watch back to Garmin before I ran across your video. Procedure worked just as you described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post.

Definitely appreciate the post! Saved me from sending my Garmin in for repairs ($99). Wd40 and a toothpick did it for me. I couldn't appreciate a change in connector button visibly but obviously something happened!! I'm back to full charging capability now!! Wow!!

I used a paper clip and coconut oil! Worked perfectly. I have a Forerunner 10 and already bought a new charger. Wish I had seen this sooner.

Seriously though, you are a genius. Thank you!! I used to have a 205 and decided to upgrade to this one. Big mistake. Already exchanged it once, b/c it stopped charging. Garmin has been useless. I used some olive oil and a paperclip. Took a couple tries before it worked. Thanks again!

Yah there are better ways to engineer the charging contacts than those tiny plunger type contacts. Glad it helped!

Awesome, I hadn't used my 610 in years and recently started running again. I thought my 610 was toast until I found this video. You saved me $500 as I was looking to get a new Fenix 5 Plus but now I can wait! Thanks man~!

Thanks for the video. I just had some gunk on the contacts on both sides (watch and charger) so a bit of scraping and prodding with the sharp end of some scissors seems to have worked wonders. Like others I'm pretty sceptical about Garmin's choice of charging connector on this relatively expensive gadget. Surely a micro-USB connector would have been far more reliable? The software often seems a bit flaky too, and there has been more than one occasion when I've woken up on race day (or worse - race-pacing day) to discover the Garmin was dead or misbehaving. :(

Thanks a lot. It started working. Just a minute or two of cleaning around it did the trick. This is a much elegant solution that the clip that holds the connectors together.

I didn't think this would work, but it did! I tried this with my shaving clipper lubricant so, based on other comments, it seems any type of lube will do.

Didn't work for me. But pulling out the electrode with the corner of a small pair of tweezers did.
@timsorensen735010 жыл бұрын
Yah looks like Garmin used the same pop-up connectors on the new Forerunner 620 as well. They should use a magnet type connector like Apple uses on their laptops.
