the fuse is for a wire that grounds the case around the actual motor the shaft being composite and non conductive , if the case gets grounded it forms what in electronic terms is named a faraday cage, tube guitar amp builders figured this out years ago, and higher quality transformers have a ferriday cage built in to stop EMF stray signals from causing interference in audio amps, some of yall may remember years ago some of the pros ran a wire down the shaft and connected the lower unit on the trolling motor to ground . same principle for those who wanna know lol - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage@@The_Garmin_Guru​
