Can you select a specific contour line and use it as a track that my echomap will navigate along ( like an autopilot, but using the contour line as the path/track, “navigate to”, that controls my trolling motor as an autopilot?

If I go from one lake, to another, do I have to go to the saved file, pull it up and use that? Or does it detect the lake I'm at via GPS, automatically load it to that lakes file? Hope that makes sense.

I'm looking at a Striver 5cv to take with me into the wilderness of NW Ontario - of course the lakes there don't have any maps. It looks like that unit has this quickdraw feature? Would be amazingly helpful to be able to map key areas, especially to nail down exactly where the humps are that we like to fish lake trout.

Can you use quick draw with only a livescope while ice fishing or summer fishing?
@The_Garmin_Guru2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t think so since it requires you to move around to take. Now you could take a reading each time you punched a hole and it would create a small section and maybe you could piece something together but you’re better off doing it during warm weather and then using it during ice season

What other features does quick draw contours have besides depth color shading? Does it have water level offset for when water is lower later in season? What about bottom hardness or vegitation layers like auto chart live does?? Thanks
@The_Garmin_Guru2 жыл бұрын
Yes it has water level offset brither. Doesn’t have that other stuff unfortunately. That sounds really cool
@maxcole39302 жыл бұрын
@@The_Garmin_Guru ok cool. Yep the vegitation & bottom hardness layers are automatically recorded when making a map. U can only turn on 1 at a time but thier extremely good features. Then you're weed lines are already showing, no need drop multiple waypoints. & Bottom hardness helps you find spot on a spot. I'm a kayak angler & fish alot hard get places that are not mapped. So those features along with mega 360 is what is making me lean towards a Solix 10 instead of ultra 106 & lvs34. I know prespective mode is awesome too. I would almost always use presective for my style of fishing so that makes me feel like 360 may be better. Drop in & hands free.. It's a hard choice both awesome & exspensive set ups all together

My map contour lines aren’t right. If my boat is on 8’ my boat depth might say 10 or 12’. All I’ve recorded are off like that. That doesn’t help me one bit
@The_Garmin_Guru2 жыл бұрын
Are these on your QuickDraw contours or your regular mapping. There is usually a reason your lines are wrong.
@MrLshot2 жыл бұрын
@@The_Garmin_Guru Well the regular maps of these lakes aren't even close to being accurate. I figured because the lakes aren't in HD. When i use Quickdraw is closer to show a slightly more detailed map but it doesn't show fingers and turns or bends like i need it to. The countour lines aren't accurate at all... As i said if i put my boat on 8" contour line the actual depth on my unit will show 12 or 6" and so forth. Both are inacurate but my biggest interest is Quickdraw. Thank you.

@@The_Garmin_Guru Southeast Ohio. I'd like to add my son has a different brand which i won't name and the maps that he records is spot on.
@The_Garmin_Guru2 жыл бұрын
@@MrLshot I have never had trouble with my QuickDraw contours. One thing you could have your record offset on and you could have your community offset on. if you ah e your record offset on you could be in 6 foot and it record the depth as 10 if you have it at +4. It’s for trying to finish a recording that lake levels may have risen or fallen after the first recording. Also when it records a depth line you have to run reel tight routes. The only true depth that will be correct is the one under the boat. The rest are estimates based on the cities around them. As you make several passes it will get more and more accurate. I suggest doing a checkerboard for the most accurate contour lines. I have had all brands and by far garmins are the most accurate when creating your own maps.
