Another excellent video. So far I have only used my R10 at the range and the distances were terrible but I hadn't factored in the difference with a range ball versus a normal golf ball. This has been very helpful. Thank you.

The distance doesn’t matter it’s a range ball they don’t fly anywhere. The point of the device is club face path that’s all that matters

Yeah wasn’t the most accurate session with the driver but that’s all good. It happens at times. I’ll have it back working fine today haha 😂 just means I gotta practise more

This is the best video I've seen addressing use of launch monitors on an outdoor range where I assume many if not most will use them (we don't all have space for a net). Wondering if you have any insight if Garmin might add a range ball function to their algorithm? Other than the Mevo+ do any other consumer grade launch monitors have a range ball function in their algorithm?

Great review! Two questions. Where did you get the stand? And 2. Is there an altitude adjustment for the Garmin? I currently have a Mevo and I use that to trick the software to calculate the distance with range balls…What I normally do is hit my 7 iron with the range ball, then do it with a gamer (usually one close to what I use that I’ve found on the course, or that is a bit scuffed) and then use them to compare the distances and then change the altitude in the Mevo to calibrate it…I hit at 3 different ranges. One has decent balls, one has pretty awesome balls, and the other has limited range balls (90%), so I have to adjust my Mevo anywhere from 2,000 feet to 10,000 feet to calibrate it. I live at sea level…

You can adjust the elevation on the r10 if you’re using e6 😊 I’m not sure about the Mevo but I know the Mevo+ has a range ball option to do that for you also.

Great review as I was thinking about picking one of these up and there a tons of indoor video reviews. Does it have multi player option? So if me and my son are hitting balls out of the same bay can you switch between?

That’s a great question. I believe that it is quite close however I may even do a comparison video soon up against skytrak+ to really compare properly. In all honesty the mlm2pro is better but doesn’t have face to path

@@davidmaxfieldgolf honestly a video comparing the r10 to an overhead sim or trackman would be a great video or maybe an outdoor comparison to a trackman or gc quad (not sure if quad does path data). I’m a big fan of your outdoor videos because I would primarily be using the r10 outdoors. But yeah it seems like the mlm 2 pro may be the better product but it’s the fact that you need a subscription for all the good features that makes me lean R10

Hi Dave. Thanks for the videos and reviews. I'm waiting for my r10 like everyone else. My Spornia net and mat package should be here this week (Thanks for the review). A couple of questions Dave. Was there any reason for not using an alignment stick in the stand on the range? Can you eyeball it accurately enough? Also re having it level. Is it absolutely critical to level the device now the device can calibrate the levels automatically? Am I correct to believe that anyone with an Android device is limited to Home Tee Hero? (I do have a pc laptop but it is a work supplied device. Thanks again Paul

Hey Paul, an alignment stick would have definitely helped but I took them out of my bag 🤦‍♂️ you can eye ball them easy enough like I did and then after a couple shots you’ll be able to know where the line is. In regards to the level I’d definitely have one on there just because it’s an extra thing to give you piece of mind to know it’s setup correctly. Also the stand will help to get correct heights etc. The android at the moment is limited to Home Tee Hero, however now landscape mode is available so the user experience is a lot better for android users and the updates have made the numbers spot on too 😊

I recently purchased the R10, i have only used the Garmin aop driving range and the distances are terrible, I have tried both in the net with normal balls and on the range with normal balls.. I have just purchased the alignment stand with laser from global.. i hope this fixes it.. do you think the other apps give better results?

The app is a major factor. They all receive the same data from the Garmin but how they interpret that data through their algorithms is critical. I love awesome golf

I don’t think they work together. I think the c10s are for mor connecting to the app and the watch for course play 😊

I don’t have a handicap anymore but when I did it was 2-3 depending on what tees I was playing off 😊 and the Garmin is spot on for hooks and slices

Does the Garmin get confused by other balls at the range? The range I go to has multiple floors so there are several balls flying through the air at all times.

No I don’t think it would effect it as it runs off an algorithm from backswing to maybe the first 10-15 feet after impact and it only has a 2 foot allowance either side of the r10 to pickup your backswing

Hi Dave, do you have any issue with interference from adjacent bay? In my case, everytime the person swing the club, my Garmin status light will turn red. Very annoying on the range as I have to literally wait for him /her to swing...any idea how to resolve this? I am already on the latest firmware

I don’t no and so far I’ve never heard of this issue. Are you using the Garmin app? Maybe try e6 or awesome golf

The spin data for me has been perfect. Same as GC quad. On the grass range what can throw any device out a little is the dirt that flies up and hits the unit from a divot but even then it’s still close

Still deciding whether to purchase one. I have had a bad experience with the SC300 which throws out wrong readings all the time (when it picks up one tenth of my shots) and am a bit gun shy to lash out again for another launch monitor.

I use mine on the range currently until i get a net to use. I find it very good for 80-130 yards. Longer shots seem to be a bit off right now. Possible software issues.

@@nicknak9575 Probably like what I saw where it reflects the distances of the range ball and not a real ball. So the numbers are accurate but if you want course numbers then you should hit into a net with the same ball as what you play 😊
