For everyone watching: The T8 Bifida have a TAA option, which is costs a little bit more but are made in europe.

The new Anthems have become my favorite out of all three. Definitely recommend checking them out as well if you haven’t. However I use them all for specific purposes that they are great at.

Correction, they are all AR 670-1 compliant. That means that they are approved by the army for the combat uniform. What you refer to as 670 is the NFS, Need For Speed. They are known as a garrison boot, usually used for work around base, office etc. The Bifida is designed as a field boot, more rugged than the NFS. The Falcons, a cheaper option than both
@FreedomCrawler

Exactly. Did I miss state that? Because that’s what I meant. I wasn’t referencing the AR or AFI, just the boot
@invaderjoshua6280

So for those holes in the first boot. The T8 Falcon's have the vents on the leg portion instead of using eyelets towards the bottom that's always falling out like the other boots. When I was in I had eyelets fall out on my Nike boots and Garmonts.

Thanks! Yes, I generally wear a size 9.5 in just every day shoes but 10 in running shoes and boots and these fit like all the others I’ve got. I could probably wear a 9.5 but I like a small amount of room for foot swell and thicker socks vs something that fits snug.

I am in The Army and currently, FA looking to go to RASP in a few months. I have a pair of the Bifidas and I am looking into a second pair of boots to have a spare in the field. I have loved these Garmont boots so much that I am considering the NFS or the new Anthem boots. Have you been able to get your hands on a pair or speak to anyone who has tried them out?
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler Жыл бұрын
Awesome! I have not been able to get my hands on the Anthems yet unfortunately. I can attest to the NFS as they have been going strong and great for what they need to do. I’d hope the Anthem would be a nice blend but can’t confirm. Good luck!

I got all 3, wore the Bifidas the most. Here's my opion. The Bifida fits perfectly with my 11.5 shoe size. Generous toe box. Has some ankle support. I swapped the insole for one with more cushion and this is what I wear most the time. The NSF upper is the same as the Bifida, it's lighter but the toebox is tight, pushed against my little toe. No space for a thicker insole. Perhaps ordering wide would help, but for that reason I sold mine without wearing it much. I just got the Falcon, it has a very "squishy" outsole, with better cushioning out of the box. The ankle support is also better than the other 2. I did order wide hearing reports of a narrow fit like the NSF, and it fits well, perhaps little wider than needed. My main complaint is the lacing system. It's not at all a speed lace. You have to pull the lace over every eyelet. You also need to spend more time adjusting every segemnt of the lace or it will be too tight in some places while too loose in others.

How does rucking feel in the Bifida? Also my index toe is longer than my big toe and the Bifida looks like it wouldn’t accommodate that in the toe box area. I’m debating on buying 1 670 and 1 Bifida. But also planning to do some type of train up for rucking maybe just both 670 so I can alternate them out.
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler Жыл бұрын
The bifida is definitely more minimal. So expect less of a “shoe like” feel and more of a upper and sole feel. You will feel more minimal if that makes sense. I feel like it’s better suited for movements and field use. I have super wide feet and so I went with the wide size in size 10 which is what I use for boots and my running shoes. I could comfortably fit into a wide 9.5 but it’s usually a full feeling and prefer slight space which is why I go 10. Gives the room to fit perfect when your feet swell or with a padded sock. I think you’d be fine in a similar setting for your feet. Both fit very similar as far as sizing so I think you’d be fine with them both if you wanted the bifida and 670. If I wasn’t doing any major field work and it was mainly running, rucking, obstacle course, pt then I would do two pairs of 670 like you mentioned. If it was more ranger school style then I would do bifida and 670

I'm probably way late but I just saw this vid. My index toe is also longer than my big toe. I have to go up a half size in garmont boots. It gives all my toes more room in the toe box and when they are broke in they feel amazing.

No one pair of boots is great for all conditions. Having different types is best. You should try a pair of Garmont T8s that have Gore-Tex for wet conditions. No need to worry about drain holes or quick drying with waterproof boots.

Agreed, I’m beating these all to hell right now doing thorough testing. Haven’t had the need for gortex in these summer conditions but I definitely prefer it in the cold. In the summer I want my boots to drain vs hold in sweat

just got the garmont flacons I think they are awesome. How do they feel to me? 1st the insole is junk just like you mentioned. Standing they are fine but when you go to walk or run its like your going down a rap hard to explain. the padding is thick on the heal and under foot then on the toe it goes very thin. I also ordered the under armor tac its more comfortable but its 1/2 size to big. I got 8.5 in both my toe is close to the front in the falcons. I took the insole out of the under armor and put it in the falcons and it fixed the problem it was flat and softer from heal to toe. So I recommend buying a new insole for them as I did. Next the heal stitching on the inside of the boot I could feel a hard spot just above my heal ( in less then 5 min of walking in my living room I hope it doesn't become a problem). I had to take it off and put it back on again to get it to go away. I would recommend the under armor over the falcons I only keep them because I trust the sole lasting longer because of how I walk the under armor has a thinner sole. Last they are also warmer then the under armors Its 80 in my place and I could instantly feel the difference from 1 foot to the other. They do feel like a boot vs a shoe but only just if you get a proper insole it might feel like a shoe, unlike the under armor it feels like my normal tennis shoes.

All my Garmont boot are size 7 I don’t got big feet haha. I just ordered the Anthems in the 7 as well assuming they’d fit the same. Should I have tried to find a 6.5 or should the 7 fit the same as the Befida NFS and Falcons ?
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler Жыл бұрын
Great question. I wear 10 in all my boots and Garmont told me to try 9.5 for the Anthems. After breaking them in for a week they fit great. So in my case the 9.5 worked great but the 10 would have worked fine as well. I assume. Just with slightly more room. You may be able to try them on and return them if you feel they are too big.

Posting my mini review of the falcons... Weight: lighter than the NFS on paper, but in reality they feel about the same. Fit: The NFS runs more narrow then the falcons and it feels like the falcons have more padding around the upper giving you a more comfortable fit. Because there's more padding you can cinch these down harder without digging into The top of your foot. There's also no ball bearing which a lot of people had issues with. Durability: much better than the NFS and the upper is definitely the most durable of the three, since it's been updated. They added that leather hexagon because that was the most common point for the canvas to wear away and start fraying. Breathability: about as breathable as the NFS with one major exception... There are no drain holes... I absolutely need drain holes if I'm doing anything related to the water so for that reason I won't be wearing these if I suspect there will be any traversing of wet environments. You can however get drainholes added very easily. Insole: I suspect this is where the $10 difference in prices coming from. There is no ortholite insole, you're using a piece of thin foam. I would recommend swapping it out and getting a better insole... Tread: Not quite as tough as the bifida but much better than the NFS. You won't have any issues with terrain and unlike the NFS, these do include a shank for a little extra stiffness like the bifida. Overall I don't really think the NFS has any advantages over these other than the increased breathability due to drain holes.

Question: I wear a size 14 in the Bifadas and a 15 wide on the NFS. How do the Falcons fit?
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler Жыл бұрын
For me they fit true to size. I’m surprised you have two different sizes within the brand. The anthems I was told to size a half size down and those fit perfectly. My 670’s and Bafida are the exact same size.

I got 8.5 and my toes are right by the front of the boot if I put on a wool sock it will be right by it if not on it. the under armor 8.5 is maybe 1/2 a size to big for me. my hoka running shoe is 8.5 and there is more space then the falcon.@@4Bobay

If I need drain holes in my boots I just stick the lower leather with a hot wire. Make about six in a row. Seems to not affect the boot at all. Use bailing wire. Small holes drain fine
