Your wonderful video has inspired me to purchase one of these lovely changers with the gray base and snazzy red trim...it is on its way to me as I type. Keep up the fine work, Nick!

I also have a type a . The changer comes in handy when it works correctly. I love that old turntable.

Great restoration Nick, I have restored many Garrards myself. There was an adapter made for the Type A that was a shelf attaching to the pusher shelf in the 10" position that allowed 45s to auto-play, but they are VERY hard to find, in fact I have only ever seen a picture of one on the net. If you ever see any BUY THEM as many of us are after them. I guess it's because these decks mainly sold for the USA market with the Garrard large hole LRS-3 auto-adapter supplied.

Hi. I do have the tube for the records that have the holes pushed out. But not the adapter you have seen. Maybe one day. All the best spinning. Nick

Ooof that "white corrosion" is actually cadmium dust. You can wipe it off with wet wipes or something but you don't want to breath that stuff in, I don't know about skin contact.

I wonder if the drop position is supposed be affected by the 10/12 inch switch but perhaps is not.

Hi Nick. Great video! I have a Laurentian console system that came with a Type A that I am trying to rebuild however, it is missing a tone arm pivot screw and it needs new rubber bits for the record clip. I was wondering if you might know where to obtain replacement parts. Cheers, Kevin.

you ground down the idler wheel ! did the play back speed change ? , the diameter on the idler is made to match the playback speeds that are selected , when you ground down the idler wheel this will effect the speeds and not match the factory specs .

I have Series A like yours. I’m restoring it. I can NOT get the tonearm to go down on the size 12” record size! I got it to do the 7” and the 10” size. But it won’t do the 12” size. I going crazy! Help!

Hello, Nick. I just lucked upon a Type A in wonderful condition and a mahogany plinth. I’m wondering if you may know why it will not cycle through records in the automatic mode at lesser than 45 RPM. I cleaned and re-lubricated without any luck. The rubber wheel is still flat and flexible and the motor has good speed and torque. I’m really going for some insight.

Hi Anthony. Do you mean the deck does not have enough power to operate the mechanism on slower speeds. These decks suffer badly if everything is not completely free moving. Also the rubber wheel must have a good grip surface. Run the unit at 78rpm, for several operations, which may help . Otherwise it needs more lubrication. Make sure the rotating parts under and around the arm pivot are turning freely. Nick
