Is there a reason the vortex doesn't display the target ID's quickly or at all? Is that by design?

Both the deus2 and the manticore I've experienced very little to no vdi and dug it to find a very deep mercury dime. But that vortex is a more non vdi's out of normal. I received my vortex fully charged and I'm not disappointed so far.

depends on the hunting you do! Manticore works a bit better on the beach but i was pulling rings this summer at 16 inches in the salt water! both are deep and great machines but the manticore wins imho!

I like the Deus II better on the beach for a couple reasons...BUT I love using the Manticore on the beach too and feel I am not lacking with either unit on the beach.

I hope Garrett is watching these videos and taking notes on how to improve. Because if they only take notes on how to get even for these videos to be made public then they're doing themselves zero justice. But I have a feeling they're only getting upset that these videos are being released and not actually going to take care of any of the issues that these detectors have. Easily a $299 machine I don't see it being any more valuable than that. Without headphones any extra coils nothing just a plain Jane detector that has less performance than lower priced competitors. Shame on Garrett for doing this and releasing subpar machines

garrett needs to scrape there whole VDI and tone setup for starters those blocks and tones are over 30 years old!

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Garrett to come out with updates to improve this thing. Their Apex, which has been out for over 4 years and has many known shortcomings, has only had 1 update that has barely improved it's performance.

I think the best value for the money is triple score. I think the best of the 4 is manticore.

Minelab is finally back, to before they jumped off with the CTX Sinktanic and the EquiShortBus 800. CTX with weight gain and maybe +1" depth(for $1400USD more) over E-Trac. Then ShortBus800 DEI committee design which could not talk very well... or listen. Manticore is performing as a Minelab, not multifaceted imitation design. Nice testing for the ears.

It's not bad honestly. If you were to put all the machine in three tone or 5 tones like the options on the vortex things wouldn't have sounded so nice on the other machines as they do in two tone or pitch, whichever most of them were using. Not sure why the numbers don't show up on the vortex when the tones are so stong........on some targets. It only really failed a couple of targets if you take sound out of the equation. Which......at it's price point is probably a couple too many if I'm being honest.

the manticore has a non-standard plate while the others do...the cost is more than double..and the first updates were terrible...to make a real comparison, try a deus2 against the manticore and see who fares better😉
