Very cool going to the top of the highest point in the 50th state. I can't wait until you go to the summit of the Mt. McKinley in the 49th state. When you do that, you are up in the major leagues.

Thanks so much! That's a fair question. The next highpoints are in the works now. It shouldn't be too long if I have anything to say about it. There have been some complications that have stopped us from doing much for the last month or so, but they are in the process of getting sorted out. Sorry to be so vague, but I'll go into this more in the next video I post.

When you do New Jersey, make sure you do Delaware Water Gap because of how the river carves the mountains, its next to its highest point....ya dont want to miss it its great content

The air is thin enough at the top of Mauna Kea to make even a short walk difficult. Furthermore the lack of oxygen makes your brain less functional and you get confused and lose your train of thought easily.

You should’ve called this episode the “Especially Expensive Edition”! Congrats on a great milestone highpoint that many of us might not get to check off our lists (due to 💰 ). Yessss, that definitely would have been a more fitting title. It was definitely not the cheapest highpoint we've done, haha. Didn't feel good to spend all that money but felt good to check the box.. Actually, our Uber driver from the way up (John) agreed to come back and pick us up at a time recommended by our mountain tour guide for an extra fee (of course, lol). Anyway's it worked out. I'm taking care of some (highpoint-enabling) personal stuff at the moment, which I will touch on in the next highpoint video, so there will be a short break between this one and the next, but if all goes as planned, it won't be nearly as long as the last break. New York and Maine are VERY high on the priority list, and I would be surprised if they aren't done by the end of summer! Same to you!

Wow, that’s crazy how much the weather can change in one area just by going up higher in elevation!

Isn't it?? I guess it's like this everywhere in the world, but when you can experience the elevation change in a matter of a couple hours it can be so jarring.

Oh yes, my parents (seasoned travelers) have experience with taking basically the last rental cars available. I believe it happened when we went to Costa Rica and to see the 2017 solar eclipse in Oregon.

Ah, very nice. We actually managed to work the system as well, securing a rental car the day after this was filmed for use during the rest of our trip. Unfortunately, it didn't come in time for the highpoint, but we made it work!

It's great that you made the highpoint but unless you hike/climb a good portion of the way it doesn't really count in my book. You look in pretty good shape and you have youth on your side; start climbing. You will need the experience for Whitney, Gannett, and Rainier.

Do you have mountain-climbing experience, like with ice axes, crampons, and rope climbing? Because from what I've heard you'll need it with some of the highpoints (especially Idaho and Wyoming).

I do have some technical experience with the equipment and techniques, but no experience with prolonged climbs or extremely high altitude, which many of the highpoints that we still have left will demand. I'm not particularly concerned about developing the necessary skills, and I'm confident when it comes to getting sufficiently in shape prior to all future hikes.
