NY Adirondak hikes are breath taking. From Mt. Marcy you are seeing a bunch of 4,000 footers in the High Peaks region. Mt. Marcy is a very long hike. Done it twice. By the end you just want to be done walking!

Hey Garrett. Welcome back to uploading. You're quickly approaching the harder hikes. Soon, those will be the only ones left for you. Any idea which of the "Big 3" (as I call them) you'll do 1st? I mean out of Rainier, Gannett, and Granite. Also, IIRC, you wanted an update about the convention when I got back, so here's that: That entire trip was awesome. My 1st stop: Indiana Dunes NP was a lot of fun, impressive in some parts but not incredibly beautiful. Next up was Isle Royale: The one semi-long hike I did was enjoyable save for having to rush back for my 1st tour. It was stunningly beautiful out there. Then the next, and last, stop was the convention which had some pretty enjoyable events and they got the destination set for the 2021 convention as Pennsylvania, which will mark the 1st time they'll do that there and I do plan on going there. When we went to the HP during the convention, I looked and actaually managed to find your signature in the sign in book. I was hoping to see Maine be the convention spot for that one as I do really want to go to Acadia, but oh well.

Hey, thanks for the comment! As far as the "Big 3" we'll probably start with the easiest in Granite, then go for Rainier, and then Gannett. Also, the convention sounds great, super cool experience for sure. Definitely going to have to hit one of those in the future!

Love seeing your videos! I'm gonna be bagging my 17th - 25th highpoints next week on my move to Texas, these are a great resource to watch before an attempt!

The mountain you were pointing at was actually Algonquin peak, the second highest mountain in New York. Mt. Marcy is to the left past Mt. Colden in the view.

Thanks for pointing out his small error. I noticed it too. Though Algonquin is also a great hike. And so is Mt. Colden...

Hey! Good job! That was a LONG hike with the extra distance for parking. (About 16 miles RT?) There’s only 5 HPs with longer hikes (than 16 miles) in the U.S. and they’re all West!!! Hopefully Katahdin will be easier because, while it’s an extra 1,000 foot vertical, it’ll be about 5 1/2 miles shorter??? I’ve done Wheeler Peak & Guadeloupe Peak and I can say the extra vertical over a shorter distance is not a killer. You’ve already done 2 of the 3 Martin class 5’s, so you’re good! I missed the image stabilized GoPro footage in this video. 😢 I know why there was no drone footage. Myself, I’ve bagged 26 peaks now since I started High Pointing in April. Not sure if I’ll get anymore this year? Looking forward to knocking off the 13 NE of Ohio in my next trip, then out to Mt Elbert/Humphrey’s or Whitney/Boundary...pushing my total to 41 HPs by mid 2020? Take care and keep High Pointing! Also, have fun at college! 😀👍🏼

Yes indeed, it was quite a challenge. I'm looking forward to the ones that are harder, but definitely a little nervous. Anyways, yeah, I missed the stabilized footage as well. I had a tough situation this time where I had to prioritize the last bit of film above the treeline with regard to the GoPro battery, so I ended up with phone video for most of the B-roll. It's definitely something I want to fix in the future, and now I know the extent of how bad the quality is without it.. Also, wow! You are making some serious progress! Very nice, We are looking to be at 40-42 by the end of summer 2020 as well, though obviously an inevitable slowdown in pace will follow that. Best of luck!

Oh, another question I have. I forgot to ask before: Do the trails for this ever cross the North Country National Scenic Trail?

With this video, I'm officially caught up. And yeah, aside from Mauna Kea and Guadalupe, that was seriously the most legit climb y'all have done in this entire quest. Perhaps it is safe to say that you guys have entered the hiking big leagues?

Also, don't worry about feeling physically not up to it as far as the tougher points go. 15 miles is tough, of course, but just like KZbin, it's all about consistency. The more y'all hike, the better y'all will do. And don't neglect things like the Stairmaster or elliptical to build up your core, cardio, and those SMEXY HIKER LEGS.

When are you going to start climbing the US highpoints again?
@grtshw
@grtshw 4 жыл бұрын
Freddy Bell As soon as possible! There are actually now 0 remaining highpoints that we can do outside of the summer months due to weather, so we will have to wait a little while, but I promise we will be back out there just as soon as possible!

I thought that the Illinois high point would be very hard. I think it's like 1,500 off the sea.
@PFBM86
@PFBM86 5 жыл бұрын
It's hard because it's on a privately owned farm and they only allow visitors like twice a year
@thepretzel2
@thepretzel2 5 жыл бұрын
@@PFBM86 They have it open more than that. They have it available on Presidents Day weekend along with the 1st weekend of the months June through September.

Fun story, we actually "failed" at that highpoint, by failing to do our research and making it all the way to Chicago only to realize we were not there within any of the specified windows of availability. We will make it back around soon to try again, but in that unique way, it is pretty hard!
