The only inspiration I got from this album is that William Hung showed that a person with very little musical talent can sell 200,000 albums making him a financial success in the music business. This is not an insult. Hung showed that other things besides talent are essential to being an entertainment business success. 1. He worked hard learning the songs & creating his album. 2. He repeatedly performed in front of large audiences, TV celebrities & music company executives. 3. He dealt with harsh negative reactions numerous times & never quit. 4. He got a manager or agent to get a music company recording contract. ** As for the review video, first, it praises Hung’s faster songs too much. As a musician/singer Hung never fixes all his serious lack of talent. Take YMCA, a highly rated song on the review. The arrangement helps to hide some of Hung’s weaknesses but he still can’t pronounce English words well. I could not understand about 1/3 of the lyrics. It’s not good. YMCA is a 2/5 imo. - Second, the review tries to blame the producer, engineers for album’s failure. I disagree. Most of the album is karaoke music but a good singer could still make those songs work. Take Hotel California. The arrangement is bare bone but Hung is terrible with his pronunciation of the lyrics. I know the song well but I could not understand him half the time. He’s also flat. I’ve recorded two albums myself. I would have no clue how to make Hung sound good with Hotel California. I think the recording engineer put in the echo to try some way to make Hung’s bad performance better. 1/5 * Finally, I think that Hung being a nice person is fine. Some people bought his album just because of that. And the album being so awful, because of his lack of talent, got buyers because some of it is so bad it’s hilarious. (I Believe I Can Fly) - Still Hung is doing well financially. He showed how to work the music business with almost nothing talent wise.

hey I know I already recommend you something but I was wondering if you were going to do the green day trilogy or metallica St anger or Lulu I was just wondering
@CactusMalpractice4 жыл бұрын
Lulu was already in my line up 100%. I'm always a lil scared with doing bands like green day or Metallica cause you never know if the record label will just block the video worldwide if I showcase any actual music.All things considered I will absolutely add St Anger cause It does get its fair set of Criticism still to this day. However, I think I'm going to skip out on the green day trilogy. Is the trilogy a bloated mess that really should have been one album with all the weak tracks thrown out! Oh yeah! But I haven't really heard the Green Day trilogy hated nearly as much as Revolution Radio or Father of all Motherfuckers. I think we are so close to a perfectly horrid green day record. We just have to hope and prey Thanks again for the suggestions Alex!

another great video, Sir Cactus Malpractice 🙏 i agree with you 100% on this one... it's really a bad album, but also a really sad experience? like you said "they want him to look like the village idiot" ... and i honestly believe that it's true; a lot of the things you mentioned here prove that point...exploiting someone, just to make him look bad? that is just, so freaking mean, it hurts... And, i also agree with you, this might even be worse than the shaggs' philosophy of the world 😥if their father wasn't a terrible person, they would have had a better life...and the album is bad because of their abusive father, and it's a very... sad album .... THIS however, is not William Hung's fault, at all either, but...the fact that they decided to exploit William Hung, to make him look horribly bad? it's so sad and cruel... It's very much a sad album, and i think this is probably the worst thing i've ever listened to lol Metal Machine Music hurts my ears, but at least Lou Reed did it as a giant middle finger towards the people that were interviewing him, making dumb questions, etc...and it was very influential in a lot of OTHER sides of music, so.. it's not really the worst album of all time for me, personally.

My copy of the CD came with a documentary that doesn't paint Will in the best light. The producers of the album are shown trying to make william sound like a joke. Hung also wasn't really loved by a lot of people in the Asian community. I can't speak for them but here is an article written about how the success of William Hung was most likely attributed to racist stereotypes and mockery. web.archive.org/web/20070926232336/news.asianweek.com/news/view_article.html?article_id=f6b346aeef949e07086dba0edb2e63bd and www.sfgate.com/politics/article/William-Hung-Racism-Or-Magic-2798362.php
