I'm an apprentice funeral director/embalmer and I have a collection of old embalming instruments & fluid bottles from the early 1900s. I actually have a fair amount of old things, but one of my absolute most favorites is a portrait of someone’s cat named Binks! I have no idea how old it is but it’s in black and white so I think it’s pretty old. I couldn’t stand the thought of it living in that thrift shop so now it’s here with me and Binks is being honored on my wall as he should be🐈‍⬛

My favorite, old used thing I own is a taxidermy weasel-type creature. Nobody can remember where it came from, what creature it's actually supposed to be, or why it hasn't been thrown away, but I love her and she sits in the living room for all to see. A couple years ago i helped a relative clean out an old asf shed and along with some still usable vintage art supplies, i obtained a small collection of mini glass bottles,from the 40s-60s, filled with paint thiners and other chemicals that will probably kill me if I ever open them! :D SO they're going to remain tightly sealed for as long as I live, in a cute decorative shelf where I can admire the deadly liquids from a distance lol

I'm also a big collector of Old Things. I collect vintage cartoon watches, old books, art, etc etc but my FAVORITE, most cherished pieces I own are a 1977 3rd edition paperback set of the Lord of the Rings and a copy of the 1987 edition of an atlas of LOTR maps that take you through all three books from Frodo's perspective. I love displaying all four together and looking at them brings me so much joy
