Garrett, the basements that you were exploring are part of the underground in Spokane. The purple glass dots on the sidewalk, in front of The Studio, are skylights from the when underground was open and used. They weren’t originally purple, but over time have changed color. The reason that parts of the basements are blocked off or locked up is because they are probably dangerous due to age etc. It’s actually really cool that you got to go spelunking under the city because unlike other underground’s in old cities like Pendleton, Seattle, or Portland, Spokane’s isn’t open to the public. My sister and I live in Washington and want to take our own hunted tour of Spokane now! We read that there is a secret, now closed, tunnel in the Greenwood cemetery. Please make more haunted location videos in Washington! There are so many places to explore!

This reminds me of a video I watched on yt,guy went exploring abandoned prison, there where a lot of tunnels, that connected to a lot of buildings, even recently closed library, you could tell a lot of people where exploring these places before the dude. One door he went through opened to a brand new place that was clearly still running, on that door he came through was a sign “keep the door closed”. I think this is a similar situation here, the underground’s basements are connected, people are exploring them and they may reach the restaurant basement, hence the sign on the door. It is really possible with the amount of doors this place has. That the moved cart in a basement could be a sign that some human might found the passage from basement to the studio and moved the cart for fun.

Hey Garrett, i’ve lived in the Washington area for about 11 years now and apparently the people in Spokane are aware about the ‘secret underground city’ but confusingly no one knows for sure how, when, why it’s there left abandoned. From what i heard, the tunnels, labyrinth, and passageways were built in the 1890 (some artifacts were found etched with said year). BUT people actually found things like boiler rooms, pipes, chains, even elevators from different time periods, like post 1910s. Weird. My personal take is, much like the subterranean ‘city’ underneath Downtown Seattle, it was destroyed by the great fire that demolished the original streets in 1889. The Downtown we know and live on now literally was rebuilt on top of the [burnt down] original one. So Brother, if you’ve ventured deep enough, perhaps you’ll find Atlantis - only more haunted :)

The Spokane underground is largely from prohibition and other criminal activities. It's long been home to a lot of wealthy people who want to fly under the radar (and commit crimes under the radar) and that's a big part of it. My best friends grandpa knew a lot about it

HEY GARRETT HEY GARRET I found the buildings history. It has a legal addition for railroad building permits around the property since 1910. The basements were most likely a workspace to build underground railroad passageways and were shut down. Railroad workspaces were usually abusive, toxic, and very hazardous with little to no wages. Whatever is down there is meant to be left alone, as it is probably a spirit who toiled in darkness until their demise. Railroad passageways also needed rooms to punish child laborers which may explain the room full of machinery and barred up doors. Cave ins can also occur so tell your sister her basement may be unstable.

I did a little research on the building because my inner historian and creepy ghost fanatic was not satisfied, but apparently it was built in 1901 and used as a dual hotel and apartment complex for working class families. The upper floors were the apartments, which were considered really fancy at the time because they each had their own bathrooms, and the ground floor was home to the Cozy Tavern Inn and a barber shop, which stayed on the property until the 1930's and 70's respectively. Before it was eventually renovated and turned into commercial lots on the ground floor, the basement was probably the overall storage unit for the original apartments and hotel over 100 years ago. Thousands of people have probably passed through those doors and have maybe even lived there. Who knows what kind of spooky treasures are in that basement tbh.

Oh! Also worth noting! A lot of Inn's in the 1920's used basement tunnels like that for bootlegging runs during prohibition. The dozens of old doors and seemingly maze-like design might have been because there was some bootlegging going on down there. The little spout thing was probably connected to some kind of basin at some point, there might have been hand laundry down there at some point as well.

LOCATION HISTORY: So, I was curious (I like history haha...Especially if it's a super old/spooky kind), so I did some digging. And although I find nothing specifically oober creepy or traumatic, here's what I did find out: The building that the studio is in, began being build in 1899 and was finished in 1901. It was built in three separate parts that were later connected. The first section was a building on S Howard St (the street the Studio is on). The second was on 2nd st. And the third was on the corner of S Howard and 2nd street, connecting them together. The bottom floor was used for businesses and the top two floors were used as fully-equipped hotel rooms, known as The Metripole. (those floors are now apartments today). BEFORE The Metripole building was built, there were actually businesses and residents on the location site. At The Studio's location, a woman named Roxana Sumner (widowed), lived at The Studio's address with her daughter Maud and a boarder (who worked with her, she owned a place called Minneapolis Steam Dye Works). Roxana is confirmed to have died at 176 S Howard St in 1897. But there were no other confirmed deaths that I found prior to The Metripole being built. HOWEVER, we have to consider some big aspects of the local history. Spokane was "founded" in 1873. Before that, it was pretty much just indigenous, partially nomadic, populations settled there. And, of course, whenever there are new settlers encroaching and trying to take over already occupied land...Stuff happens. So, it's possible that some undocumented horrors occurred like this on or nearby the land before any homes or businesses were built. There's also the prohibition period. I haven't researched the location in that time frame yet. However, a lot of shady stuff happened at that time. So, again, who knows what took place in or around The Metripole and the businesses underneath on the bottom floor. Anyway...That's what I've found so far. If you want me to keep you guys updated on what else I find, let me know.

⚠️JUMP-SCARE TIME STAMPS BELOW! ⚠️ 57:03 (edited in person standing in corner) 59:59 (loud noise and cardboard cut out of will smith) 1:08:58 (Andrew’s shadow) 1:09:40(edited in scary face) 1:10:55 (Garrett scaring Andrew) 1:11:57 (Andrew gets spooked by wires) 1:14:28 (loud banging/falling noises) 1:15:44 (loud creaking door) 1:15:52 (close up of creepy doll & the ghost detector going off) At 1:05:44 when they’re talking about someone putting up the dry wall and there being a hole, it looks like it was punched through from the other side. not the side Garrett & Andrew are on. they said that they suspect whatever bad thing/things are there are coming from that old closed restaurant next door. it makes me think it made its way in by breaking that hole in from the hallway on the other side. And at 59:50 when they show the door in the basement of the studio there’s an XI scratched into it. later at 1:13:19 , those same scratches can be seen all over the door in the basement of the old closed restaurant. i wonder if they relate somehow. in roman numerals it means 11. also a potential explanation for all the connecting hallways between the two places (Garrett’s sister’s studio and the old closed restaurant) is when alcohol was illegal way back in the day (prohibition era) people used to smuggle it via underground tunnels. these can be seen throughout the video but especially at 1:08:41 when Garrett and Andrew are in the alley way looking down at the grates below them. you can literally see the tunnels! upon some light research, Spokane (where they are in the video) was a major receiver and distributor of contraband liquor during the prohibition era! i’ve attached a link to the website below ⬇️ www.historylink.org/File/9702 anyways!! sending good & positive vibes and energy to everyone watching this video 🤍✨🌱😇🙏🏼🌸☀️🌙🫧

Nice job finding all these time stamps and research. I was interested in the Roman numeral thing so i did some digging. It’s believed over many cultures and religions that all numbers emerged from the number one and all numbers are connected with divinity, unity, and God. So 11 is a combination of multiple of the origin of numbers making it significant. Along with that, biblically 11 is a sign for guardian angels about enlightenment or a new chapter. So it could have been written franticly by someone trying to ward off evil with God or angels. Although, medieval scholars believed that 11 was evil, representing sinners. They saw 10 and 12 as divine and 11 evil. So it could have been written about evil spirits haunting that place. It all comes down to who wrote it and what intentions they had. Who knows, maybe it conjured up more spirits down there. I’m glad that Garrett and Andrew made it out okay.

Garrett is one of the few paranormal content creators I trust bcuz his videos have much more of a focus on comedy then they do on actually being scary. If the goal was to scare you, then there wouldn't be a random ass makeover montage in the middle of the ghost hunt lmao. Pretty sure the one he dropped the cup on was his niece, as she was later seen in the video when he said that only his sister, her friend, and his niece were in the building. Also seems like Ava was a friend of his niece, as she seemed to spend a lot of time standing around with her. So, I'm sure his niece is used to her uncle's strangeness. lol Another family visit for her. lol

I've never been as uneasy and scared while watching a ghost hunting video on youtube ever before. Even the haunted apartment episode was nothing compared to this one! I've easily watched and replayed the apartment video a lot of time, day and/or night, and the creeps I've felt while watching this on an afternoon is incomparable. You've outdone yourselves this time guys! I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing bc you're literally the ones experiencing everything in real time lol

It wouldn’t surprise me if she decided not to come back to the studio. He’s not thinking about respecting his sister’s business, and livelihood, rather then his own monetary values. @@k0htp0t my guess is just kind of for remodeling purposes. It was originally an apartment building, it’s probably been split up into multiple different layouts over time where different parts of the building are owned by different people. So just a cheap way of making a barrier between properties. And the please keep this door closed sign could just be cause it lead to the buildings electric meters. I’m a big believer in the super natural but I think a lot of the weird design aspects just have to do with businesses working within an old apartment building.

So in the house i grew up in, the basement was super creepy. We decided it's an older woman who resides down there because the rocking chair, that was down there when my parents bought the house, just rocks randomly. And not just a little bit. My mom even tried to put it on the curb to be taken along with the trash, and it ended up back down there by morning. I got up for school, and when I walked out to catch my bus, I noticed the trash hadn't run yet, but the chair was gone. I assumed someone drove by and took it because it's actually kind of a nice chair, a little sanding and new paint or finish and it would be nice. Anyway, when I got home and went down to the basement to watch tv with my best friend and just hang out, the chair was back down there in the exact same spot and its still in that spot today. My family doesnt live there anymore, we all moved, but my parents still own it and just rent it out. Only the basement was an issue but it was also my chill spot so me and the old lady, I named her Ms. Ruth when I was in high school, became friends...ish. She'd play with my hair while I watched tv, poke me in the ribs like she was tryna tickle me, and knock on the floor and walls if she didnt care for what I was watching. If what I was watching was rated pg13 or higher She'd knock more often, especially if there were any curse words. Lol. I got used to her after a while. I grew up there, so I dealt with her a lot. She isn't aggressive or anything she just likes her chair and is kinda ornery or stuck in her ways. Shes still there, probably always will be. Also, no one can even move the chair from the spot she likes it in. We had to furnish the room around it lol. Everytime we'd move it, it would just be back in her spot by the next day. 😅 I think Ms. Ruth is a nice lady though. Id love to know what she looked like when she was alive and what her name actually was.

I moved into an 115 year old building right before my baby boy was born. When he was a month old, we started to notice some activity. Especially at night…but also during the day. I’ll describe two experiences that shook me. 1: we had been sleeping in the living room for the last few weeks with the baby. One night in the middle of the night, probably 3am…i was in the hallway, where I had the change table set up. To the right of me, the bedrooms, behind me is the bathroom and in front of me the front door and to the left, the living room. I was changing my baby’s diaper in the dark and an entity stood right behind me, peering over my right shoulder as I was standing over the change table with my son. The entity was always very interested in my baby. I rushed to turn on the bathroom light. Kept the lights on every night in the hall going forward while living there. 2: home alone. Rocking my baby in the rocking chair, kitchen lights were on with the kitchen behind me. I was breastfeeding my baby and he kept looking up and around the chair, tilting his head as if someone was kneeling peeking around the chair at him. It was about 11pm. I kept trying to get my babies attention back on feeding but he was much more interested in staring at whoever was peeking around the back of the chair at him. I literally said out loud, “Please leave my baby be. He needs to eat and I am trying to get him to sleep. Please stop bothering us for right now.” Then my baby went back to feeding and all was calm. My Literal arm hairs were standing up while speaking to them. Ok. One more story… 3: It was afternoon and my baby was very fussy. I needed a break so I stepped away to the bathroom for a moment and left my crying baby safely in the bassinet in the living room. Suddenly, my baby stops crying and I got a weird feeling about it. So I slowly walked back to the living room and my baby was staring up at someone as if there was someone crouched over at the bassinet to soothe him. He was surely soothed and I was utterly spooked….but I said to the spirit, “thanks for soothing my baby….” I had a feeling inside that they knew I was frustrated as my partner was at work and I was alone and I needed someone to help calm my son…so they did. *shudder*

I’m a FIRM believer that babies see spirits often. I have two and there are times they will randomly start laughing or having full conversations with whoever/whatever is amusing them. Often when it’s naptime I have to say ‘hey it’s naptime tell your friends to come back later after your nap’ and my daughter speaks and she’ll say ‘okay see you later’ and my son babbles then they take naps.

Rewatching this and answering your end of vid question: the most recent unexplained thing that happened to me was that our resident ghost at my place of employment may have helped me pick out a necklace? I was shopping around our new jewelry and describing to my coworker what I wanted to find. It was before closing and we both stepped away from the front to look in some other cases while we had a few minutes but when we returned, a pendant (of the exact color and shape I was wanting) was sitting on the counter. We were the only ones there and she confirmed that she hadn't put it there or seen it there earlier. It was EXACTLY what I wanted and way too coincidental to just appear where we had just been standing only a minute prior. All of the employees are aware of our ghost and have their own stories about him. We even have customers who tell us about their encounters and have been given a name to call him.

You can tell the spirits sit and lurk below in the basement, the girls lively energy is what creates the good vibes upstairs. When they left the entire atmosphere changed. The voice you kept hearing seemed to want to lure you back after you entered the outside room with the road sign. I think terrible things lie deeper, probably beyond the door that was nailed shut. so intense you can feel it through the screen. The doors act as portals and the deeper you went down there, like Andrew said, it felt like you entered a completely different reality. I wonder what else lies beyond those locked doors. Best you got out of there.

I completely agree. When Garrett mentioned Backrooms I was stunted!! Something that really caught my eye was the contrast between both basements -one dark one light- what’s up with that? 😮

would make sense as to why the cart was (allegedly i guess) found in the basement, like it’s trying to lure you in.

Garrett, the only decent thing Shane has ever done in his life is introduce me to you. I remember watching your “Ice cream nachos Will it combo” Video when i was having sucky times. I have never stopped watching and i don’t think I will. I Wish i had every way in the world to show you how much i appreciate your presence on the internet and how much you have gotten me through. thank you so ridiculously much.

The animated intro for the No Scare Room was so comforting amidst probably the creepiest ghost video I've ever seen lol and the fact you didn't even use devices to communicate with it yet being that scary is a whole other level kudos to you

Hi garrat! 3 months late (sorry) but i would just like to inform you that the basements you where exploring might go back to 1960s-1980s (for the makeup studio) the old restaurant dates back event further. I originally thought around the the same time as the music studio because of the flooring. Then when you look at the basement the type of brick that was used could've dated back even farther then the 70s and 60s. The white boarded up door in the makeup studio could be the door to go down farther into the basement (could be flooded, collapsed, or cemented down.) From the looks of most of the basement it mightve been a winery. Also the little alyway looks really similar to the underground tunnels Pueblo Co. Used to (and some might say still do) have been built. The building also could've been used to keep alcohol when alcohol was banned. This is all i have for now, hope ya see this and have a great day!

Garrett, I have had the worst week. My five year old has been sick in the hospital the entire week and my mother passed away a few days ago. I can't tell you how much just seeing you uploaded has made my day. Your personality is seriously just straight serotonin to watch. Please never stop making these.

This is one of the first times that I heard some sterness/fear in Andrew's voice when he wanted Garrett to stop exploring and wanted to leave. It was so genuine sounding that it freaked me out more 😳 One time I was in my home office and all of a sudden, I got this strong smell that reminded me of my grandmother. She had passed many years before and had never been to my new house. I wasn't creeped out though so that doesn't really answer Garrett's prompt. I was having a bad day at work so the smell made me feel like she was watching over me so I cried instead haha Edit: I've only smelled that scent in the room one or two other times and ive been living in my house for 3 years now. It isn't triggered by the weather or dust or anything.

For real though!! At like the 54 minute mark was where it really freaked me out because sometimes spirits and entities effect people's attitudes. Like literal horcruxeses.

As everyone should be. People put way too much emphasis on what others think. As long as you're not hurting anyone or anything, embrace yourself and do what you can to find joy. Life is miserable enough without hiding who you are.

You know, it's a common thing for the scariest horror films to be fun and happy in the first half with similar moments peppered in across the rest of it, because it creates greater contrast for the creepiness to really stand out. Thanks for falling into that format, it's absolutely wonderful

I love when you can tell that he’s over it for a split second (always before they get coffee) like in the last video when they go to Starbucks and Garret’s all hyped about ordering a scone for the bird and you hear Andrew immediately say “please don’t waste time doing that” or when they arrive at the hotel and Garret’s talking about the obvious key to the room how it can be a clue and Andrew’s like “man come on it’s 3am” It’s just such a break in energy and how most people would react after like 10+ hrs with someone so high up that it’s greatly comedically timed naturally
