I am Reitred Armed Forces Officer that was trained in Suicide Prevention. The signs were all there. I wished he was afforded the assistance by the NG unit. There is so much help for our Soldiers. My condolences to the family.

Thank you for your input...that's good to know that the help is there. Sadly I think a lot of service members wouldn't want to use it because of the attitude in previous years. I'm speaking as a mother of a service member and I know that when she was struggling to cope, she just couldn't make herself to go for help in case it would destroy her service record. It's very sad, and I'm very glad to know that this service is available. If people could look at it as, the courage that it takes to come forward to get help, I think that may help.

I'm blown away by Logan continuing to act as the defacto patriarch of the family. Since he was young, he's had to fill that role because even with two matriarchs in Janelle and Christine, the sperm donor was nothing close to a positive male influence in the family. So Logan took on/was assigned that role. The way he tried to protect his mother and youngest sister in this situation after attempting to reach out to his younger brother is so touching and tragic.

He was beyond suicidal ideation. He had suicidal intent. He had a gun and ammo that he wasn't telling his mom about. Suicidal ideation is thinking about suicide. Suicidal intent means you have a plan to do it. Intent is more serious than ideation. Also, ideation and intent can be fluid. He was sending alarming texts to loved ones. So, that is actually another sign that his ideation increased to intent. Never ignore either one. But if someone exhibits intent, take them very, very seriously, immediately.

I met Robert Brown and his brother once. They were so polite and respectful as we were selling our travel trailer to the man who simply identified himself as Robert Brown. Later, my husband went to the home ( we now know it was Janelle’s home) to pick up some forgotten items. That is when Kody showed up on the scene. I was not there, but my husband described him as that nut you watch on tv. He was waving his arms around, tossing his hair around and talking nonsense about something he knew nothing about. We acknowledge that our contact with Garrison was brief, but we have mourned his tragic death.

I mean why? If we being honest, at least 4 maybe 5 of her 6 kids alone were depressed or anxious at some point during the shows run. That’s alarming. Hunter, Maddie, Gabe, and now Robert. The optics don’t look good for Janelle and Kody and that’s just HER kids. Christine’s kids were dealing with it too. Gwen, Paedon, Ysabel. Robyn’s kids were dealing with high anxiety and stressful situations in the early seasons that went unaddressed. Everybody was so wrapped up in the show and making Kody happy, these kids MH issues fell by the wayside. Janelle can try to file if she wants and it will be tossed right out. They moved to Vegas then to FS and 20 other moves before they ended up on tv. Their kids never had stability

As a step mother, I reacted to my stepchildrens resistence to me with patience and compassion. In the long run, it paid big dividends for me and my husband. I could have gotten all “butt hurt “ and played victim, but I had empathy, something Robyn will never understand because she doesn’t care about anyone but herself!! Things could have been completely different for Kody’s kids. This is why I think Robyn didn’t want a relationship with the kids to begin with.

Kody hasn't been a father to the 13 children he had with Meri, Janelle and Christine as soon as he met Robyn. Things started to change between him and his kids early on. Just not as much as it ended up being though. Kody only cares about Robyn and her children. I feel so bad that Garrison texted that many people and only two people replied back. Kody is a piece of work. He couldn't be there for his son minutes before he died,but he sure made it a point to sit up front with Robyn. I normally don't leave comments, but I have felt really moved to in this instance. As someone who was in an extremely similar situation to Garrison, and being the one in Garrisons shoes around 10 years ago (survived by the skin of my teeth- thriving now) I need to clarify something for everyone before they run with this narrative- it was NOT alcoholism that killed him. It was neglect. He was depressed and he should have been depressed. He was in a depressing, heartbreaking, horrific and near impossible situation- which he managed to survive for a long time. He bought his own house by the age of 25 ffs- do you know how rare that is and the kind of work that he would have had to put in to be able to accomplish that... we're not in the 1950's anymore, most people my age can't even buy a house yet. This kid was burnt out and drowning in trauma caused by his father after spending 25 years in survival mode. His nervous system was destroyed. At that age, you don't want to blame the people around you- so you will try and make yourself the wrong one, the broken one. Regardless of what he said, he was drowning in shame and self hatred because that is what happens when you blame a child for all of your own messed up BS... they don't rightfully hate the people they should (Kody, Robyn, the other adults who could have helped and prevented this)...you learn to blame and hate yourself. It was NOT alcoholism. If anything, drinking kept him alive longer, able to deal with his burnt out nervous system via self medication. I hope that people read this and know how important it is to not run with this narrative as I can promise you that Kody and Robyn are going to run all the way home with that narrative in an effort to avoid social accountability and any real accountability period. That he was a problem child with alcoholism and that's why this happened. They already smeared him enough in life, lets try as much as possible to hold him accountable and not let him smear G/R in death too. Please.

This is how I'm understanding these final texts. He came across a CURRENT picture of Kody and Dayton playing paintball with the crew. He tells Janelle I found this picture. Not an OLD picture, a recent one in which the other brown children weren't included. His text "I want to hate you for sharing.....but I can't. I miss thise days" was referring to this RECENT photo. He hates them for posting it somewhere that enabled him to find it...and he misses the days when ALL the brown children played with the crew. Janelle's response seems to me to be in line with this...there's been a lot of loss. Not just the loss of the Kody/Robyn crew, but the loss of the TLC crew. These people become like family to the children of reality shows. My God, my heart breaks even more now.

A big thing people are not talking about is a big reason he might not have tried to get help through the military is if he’s a staff sergeant in a combat unit if you go to mental health counseling you are often looked at as a week soldier and even though the military won’t admit this it will change the way your treated and could affect future promotions.

As far as the brothers not responding, sometimes people either don’t even know they got a text or are busy at work or home and forget to check it until later. People blame themselves enough when something like this happens. I don’t feel it’s fair to make it a point that they did not respond when we don’t know the circumstances.

Kody tried to manipulate Janelle's children into following the Cov.. rules, while he and Sobbing had the "nanny from hell" coming into their home and were not concerned with the "rules" and she was the one who brought in the virus which contaminated their family. This whole tragic event further highlights why such ridiculously large, plural families aren't fair on the kids. The focus is always on how many kids the man can "spawn" to make HIM feel powerful and successful by plural standards, all the while the children never receive quality time with their father. Having 20 kids ensures one can never be properly active in each of those kid's lives. Everyone always talks about the sister wives and the husband and all the aspects of THEIR relationships; yet what about the deficit in parenting received by all the kids that are the product of these polygamous unions? If only Garrison had two ACTIVE parents who were so in tune with him and all his addiction and depression issues. Instead, Janelle was left to be mother AND father, whilst Kody ironically gave all of his attention to three kids that aren't even his biological children, and a younger 4th wife who was seemingly fine with absorbing all of Kodys time, finances and energy. Anyone who still advocates for polygamy doesn't appreciate how much the real victims of these relationships suffer... the children.

My heart is broken 💔 for Janelle, Gabe who found his brother, Logan & those who truly loved Garrison. I'm shredded as a Mom of a son who's had ideations & I almost lost him & his father did the same thing nothing. How that pos could live with himself knowing how his son was feeling & that he was reaching out to him & he did NOTHING.. HE SAID NOTHING that could've potentially changed the outcome to this hurt young man's life is an abomination. How he & his precious where allowed to sit in the front seats was a slap in the face & a kick to the gut to Garrison's memory. He didn’t deserve that seat...he didn't deserve to be in that church! I saw a picture of how destroyed & broken Janelle was & still is. I wept & still weep with her. She lost her beautiful boy!

I know the feeling when you send a text like that and no one responds. His mom did and one of his brothers as well. You feel like if they don't respond, then they don't care. Youre thinking to yourself how unworthy you are, how no one cares, how nobody's going to miss you when youre gone. You figure, if they don't care, why should I. You're already in a world of hurt and to not get a response? That's the icing on the cake. That puts you in the deep end. And theres no going back. I've been there and it hurts. I got lucky. I was going to od on insulin i had the syringe ready. Then my son came home. Had he not gotten here when he did I'd not be here today.
