Thanks for the GG videos! I just recently got hooked on Rat Patrol, and this series was recommended to me because it was supposed to be similar. I really enjoyed it and am disappointed it only lasted one season. GG and Rat Patrol are now two of my favorite tv shows, even though I was born about thirty years too late to see them when they aired for the first time.

Mary Hoffman - I've watch all of "Combat" several times, and like "12 O'clock High" as well, but for "GG" this was quite a different approach. I liked most of them, but a few were a bit corny. I'm looking forward to moving on to watch "Rat Patrol" since I haven't seen any of them. After that what can you suggest to watch next?

Elsbeth Humphrey If you liked 12 O'clock High, you might enjoy "Black Sheep Squadron" (it was also broadcast as "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep"). That one is also about a group of pilots, though it has a lighter feel to it than "12 O'clock High".

Thanks for sharing this great world war 2 show. It came at a bad time though, in that, 1968 was the end of the these types of shows. To bad it couldn't have continued at least for 1 more season and the war would end and our our guys went free. Sometimes I wonder if, still classified, stuff like this actually went on.

For somebody who had just seen three of his buddies ruthlessly murdered, that German bomb expert was real friendly and cooperative.

I kinda liked that young German with the glasses. I understand why he finally yelled out - not to betray his American captors, but because he didn't want his fellow Germans to walk into an explosion. Fortunately he just got a punch in the gut, which is a better fate than most Germans in this thing.

A bad thing that can happen when disarming a bomb 💣 is to start to hear it tick.

P S. It did not replace Combat, Vic Morrow and another actor were just tired and wanted out. I think the other was Ric Jason or Janson. The show had pretty much run it's course by then.

Mary Tobey this show definitely replaced Combat! See Jo Davidsmeyer,s fine book on Combat!

The second season has been filmed, but there is no performance. I hope that those who have the second season film can announce it, and the majority of GG fans will thank you very much.

The worst thing about this show was the time slot they started it in. In the 60s this was considered not for children and should have been on at 9 at night after kids bedtime. Most women ( Myself included ) did not like the Dirty Dozen and so the show started with 2 strikes against it. I love Wackiest Ship in the Army (TV show ) and only watched the first episode of this because I loved Rudi Solari as an actor and wanted to she him again. One show and I was sold ! But it never had a chance because of the hard press by the producers to tie it to Dirty Dozen. Brendan Boone should have gotten the Golden Globe that year but lost to Martin Landau, an insider that was not that great on his show and got fired later on for trouble he caused on Mission Impossible. I really believe that if B B had won the show would have been given another chance. Damn shame things conspired against it.

Liked them both, and wish GG had had another year, but the premise of GG is also more cynical -- war is a matter for criminals. Neither Garrison's Gorillas nor Mission Impossible had character development, but at least GG had some realistic use of foreign languages. Now a lot of it sounds weak (it is), but it was inspiring when I was a monolingual kid.

Just binge watched GG again in 2 days. Especially enjoyed any water scenes because Chief & the Warden would remove their shirts & those tight pants would get all wet & .......s i g h This show had humor & great looking guys, Combat had neither.

Once again, lifted almost directly from Combat! Talk about plagiarism - even if its legal here because both are productions of the same company LOL

A German town looked much like New York. I don't visit the USA but from picture and movies of New York. It looked the same. I visited Germany and France recently and real German or European towns were very different from the series. Too much too Americanised for buildings in all the programmes of this series. Here in my home country the UK most buildings were mostly houses but not like in America. Series much like in the Sixties than in the Forties except for some black cars.
