The question one should ask, is whether the US and its weapon industry have an interest in ending this war. They are earning billions in profits with providing Europe and partially Ukraine with crazy expensive weapons. Maybe that's the sole reason the US sets restrictions for Ukraine on the use of weapons against the Russian enemy.

Thanks a lot Garry for saying out loud the obvious truth... I am feeling hopeless because my father in law who was as a kid persecuted by communist regime is now voting for communist party to stop the war... Any advice on how to fight the russian lies? Regards from Czech Republic and sláva Ukrajině!
@dannydetonator7 ай бұрын
A tough question, with easy (and probably useless) and complicated answers. Easy would be - show him this interview, if he doesn't speak English get at least some captions. There are tons of good content explaining fallacies of "Russian lies" in Russian and other languages too (most European ones), like Maikl Naki and many others, even more in English (on request). The complicated but more useful answer depends on your father - what is his views, beliefs, echochambers he consumes news and information from and your personal relationship with him. As Russian covert info-war works like a set of custom-made viruses to overcome various types of persons' mental immunity based on their existing views and ignorance, informational anti-virus also have to appeal to personal condition, with personal approach with your father. Some are too far intoxicated to be simply brought back by reasoning, but there are methods. First, you have to analyse where his beliefs on Russia and Ukraine come from - where does he gets his news and ideas from. Not an easy task, but you can tell - in who'se favour the information is distributed - autocracies (including Communist, as both far-left and far-right work in Kremlin's favour), or ours. Most western Kremlin's appeasers pretend (or falsely believe) to be neutral, but they're not. Talking heads like Meirsheimer, Chomsky or any other agreeing to them are literal Kremlin's assets, never mind Tuckers, McGregors and other open propagandists. You can tell who is who by narratives and talking points, as well as their history of content. There must be a point of entrance to deceptive information, so before even debunking it you have to show why and where from it is coming from. Then you can dissect it as enemie's black/gray-propaganda it is and show your dad how and why it works - as long as you learn it yourself. Maikl Naki, Operator Starsky (his new Anti-propaganda academy), Ukraine Matters, Animarchy History, Toronto Ukrainian Community, this very chanell and many others have good takes and education on Russia's info-war topic. Second, disspeling myths and ignorance your father might have about "modern" fascist Russia, Ukraine and their histories should help. Much of Russia's infowar is based on misrepresenting the real situation, reasons for this war, revision of history and reality itself. Debunking them with hard facts sometimes works, if person has succumbed to the propoganda based on false facts, rather than emotions (for most part it's the latter though). Ex.g. Ukraine Matters have a take in English of a Russian investigation (in Russian with English captions, link to original in description too), how the war in Donbas and annexation of Crimea really happened with hard evidence and internal reasons. Sarcasmitron have a simpler, but good analysis too, if you search their chanells. Third, the big picture. What Russia's appeasers and "negotiators" don't understand is, that we're already in a hybrid WW3 with Russia and all its real allies. Quite one-sided fight if we look at our leaders not standing against the covert attacks. It won't happen militarily on ground until Russia gathers hard power to militarily attack any weaker opponent, which collectively we are not. But it's happening every day on internet by covertly poisoning "western" minds, economic and trade manipulations, geopolitical moves to get other autocratic regimes allied to Russia, disruptions of traffic, sabotages, infiltrations and espionages, the list is endless. It's not about Ukraine, but power of Kremlin and autocratic rule of brutal strength. And it won't stop until Kremlin's regime is contained and eventually ceases to exist - they will only escalate this warfare if allowed to. If your dad doesn't speak English, translate the exact words of this interview, as sir G. Kasparov put this idea very eloquantly here. If he has fallen in the emotional post-fact, post-truth mindset (see A. Dugin), the best could be a atrict and confident authoritative Aristotelian discussion of reason, if your father accepts your authority on geopolitics. After all, your country have a chance to outproduce all the rest of Europe in so needed artillery shells soon, which is seriously heroic move. Best of luck to your family and anyone in a similar situation. CZ✌LV

I had a Czech grandfather who was a staunch socialist in Chicago, and during the great depression there was an active debate about the future, to which as a socialist local leader he played a role. If it's an ideological debate, then consider informing him that Putin is really a fascist, just using communism as a foil to draw people in. The long answer might be a shift towards worker owned and controlled companies in true democracies with more guaranteed basic benefits, as corporatism nor of communism offer solutions, and the fig leaf of communism often just placates the masses for a dictator like Stalin. My neighbor's mother was sentenced to hard prison labor by the Stasi in Czechoslovakia under the communists, remind him of that. He's maybe forgetting the harsh reality, listening to the propaganda.

Frank, courageous, and brilliant! The Russian genius humantarian gives this world the right direction to go! Unfortunately, there are too many key politicians still just care for their own survivals, and many beautiful innocent lives were sacrificed...

Fantastic interview with the REAL master strategist! He knows that you play chess to win, not to lose, and taking out the 'king' is the whole object of your strategy.

Garry Kasparov is just amazing. He sees the whole picture. AMAZING. No one in the world has such an analysis as he does. I can say about the Russian opposition: we have no one in our so-called opposition who understands the situation better than Garry Kasparov.

I absolutely agree 👍 Thank you ❤

All genuine opposition has been eliminated, and what opposition that's left is controlled opposition. In other words, it's fake and a ruse to prevent genuine opposition in Russia. The same situation exists in the U.S. We have no effective opposition to the Left wing tyrants here either. At least in the political sphere. That is why Putin is as unhinged as he is, and increasingly the Democrats.
