I remember when this came out on NBC as his first concert special. Garth was the biggest thing to ever happen to country music. After this night he was now a staple in country music forever. What a great inspiration, role model, artist and legend Garth Brooks is. He made country cool!

It is a great song! Garth has a deep respect for Billy Joel. Garth has done several covers of songs by Billy Joel. Such a honest, heartfelt reaction! ❤️🔥❤️

🔥🔥I'm a big fan of this song. Once again a great and inciteful reaction, Hap!! This is a fun interpretation and Garth has put his stamp on it, but kept the integrity of the song.🎸 Terrific song/video choice. Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕

Garth is always amazing! I can see where the Freddie Mercury 👨🏻 influence comes in. Garth is the Freddie of country music in my opinion! I unfortunately never saw him in person, but have watched him live on tv 📺 and many concerts on KZbin and tv! I have a set of cds and many cassettes. I love you going over the lyrics. Your reaction was awesome as always! Love 💕 from across the pond, Dee

Just remembered hearing about this , in reference to your comment about Garth's stage presence: One of Queen’s (other) biggest all-time fans spoke out about the band and the influence they, and in particular lead singer Freddie Mercury, had on him. If you’ve ever been to a Garth show, you know how well he manages to command the stage and connect with the audience. Garth has said from very early in his career he learned that from growing up watching rock acts known for over-the-top live shows, including KISS and Queen. (Source-KNCI 105.1) Thank you for another great reaction ☮

He said that both he and Freddie Mercury were very insecure (yes) and the music gave them courage. He regrets never meeting Freddie. Garth was here in my town back in April. He's touring again.

In his highschool he was a football player and he is the youngest of the family. I knew his brother and sister in law and his nephews. They were at my highschool. The brother and sister in law were my teachers and one or two of his nephews were substitute teachers for a while

I hate to correct the person who requested this. But his voice was very much not about gone, encore or not. He was just singing with rasp, to match the original Billy Joel performance. I’ve seen Garth play for three straight hours and never heard a voice crack.

I had this on vhs as a kid and would watch it for hours on end and That was Garth in his prime! He was a huge fan of Chris Ledoux who was a rockstar in a cowboy hat and had huge live shows and always tried to imitate him. Sadly very few of those band members are still with him now would love to see them all together again!

Actually most of his band are still with him, Betsy his sister passed away from cancer some years ago, James Garver started his own business or something but the rest of the band is still together. Plus a few new additions. And very much still touring with Garth. Ty England , Steve Mcclure, David Gant, Mike Palmer. The Stillwater Band

Not the only Billy Joel song that he covers. One of his other big hits is Shameless, and he does it so supremely fantastically well that I never want to hear the Billy Joel version.

This was one of my favorite of Garth's live film clips as a child. It still is. I think of that water scene every time I hear the song on the radio. My mum fell in love with Garth's music before I was born. So my sister and I grew up with it Over 30 years later and we both still love and play his music.

Obviously Billy Joel’s original song and back in the late 70s early 80s Billy and his band would let loose during this song. Knocking over each others drum sets and keyboards in the lead up to the song. The song is about being wild and living free so Billy would turn up more than usual as well. Garth went even more wild and energetic paying homage to Billy. Another song with similar energy from Garth is Ain’t going down til the sun comes up… which he and Billy wrote together 😎

I hope you know this is Billy Joel's song. Garth is doing a cover version. The song is Billy joel's. You should check him out as well. Far more hits than Garth..... I'm a huge fan of them both but Billy Joel, yeah he's bigger..... Perhaps not in terms of record sales but in terms of quality songwriting, it doesn't get much better than Billy.
