he was average very average technically, it’s like matt lowton. average on the ball, can cross a bit, like to slide tackle.
@Tridentus
@Tridentus 2 жыл бұрын
One of the better fullbacks at defending, probably the best crosser at the time from RB, and overall one of those typical north-west footballers who don't look particularly "charming" on the ball but are incredibly effective with it because they can read a situation. Like, someone like Ashley Cole looked prettier on the ball and got more praise for his attacking side, when Gary was more effective with the ball in good positions but got less praise cos he looks scruffier moving with the ball.

As a football person he is great. I could listen to him all day, plus he was a legend for Utd. May not have been the best technically, but he was a warrior who gave it his all.... it's outside of football I have an issue with. The things he says that are just incorrect. I know politics is subjective most of the time, but there have been things that he has said that are just plain wrong and was throwing fuel to a fire that needs extinguishing....calling racism a societal issue is the main one I keep coming back to. He talks about fans as being the core of football, yet with the words he uses he implies that the majority of football fans that fill stadiums up and down the country are all racist bigots which is not true at all. Also, he speaks as though it's just white people who can be racist. THE MOST racist people I have ever met have been non white. He also speaks about the migrant crisis and how sending them away is a disgusting thing to do, not realising that we are a small island in comparison to the rest of Europe. People cannot afford to eat properly and heat their homes at the minute, yet the government is throwing so much resource at people are, let's face it are not assylum seekers. They're economic migrants who have been told that this is the land of milk and honey, and they are getting preferential treatment! People cannot get hospital appointments for Cancer treatment etc yet these people come in and given everything on a plate. It's not right!! Also he fails to see the impact mass migration is going to have on the environment, again we are a small island, so how are we going to house these people? We are going to have to build and natural habitats are going to have to die out to make way for said construction. I read somewhere that the Bee was in danger of becoming wiped out. The Bee is integral to the germination of plants and crops and without bees they die. Plants take in the Carbon Dioxide that humans expel and they in turn release the oxygen we need to breath. The more of the environment you destroy, the more we are polluting our air and having Cultures move in to the country at an exponential rate that have larger families than the native Brits do, this is going to cause problems. Think of the upside down pyramid! That is essentially what IS going to happen if things aren't sorted. Then you have the whole cultural issues and some cultures just don't mix, not on a vast scale which has let to high crime rates, civil unrest and even murders on the streets! But all Gary wants to do is virtue signal because he thinks it makes him look good and a better person! It just shows he needs to thinks more deeply about things and choose the words he uses more carefully when on national TV!

Gary, if you ever see this, you were far from average.. never saw you in the team amd thouth "we need someone at right back".. I expected that name on the sheet.. When Keano left, we went through a dry spell, and I remember the 07 season we got the Prem back with Neville as our captain.. I remember thinking "He's gonna go on playing for us until he's 40!" The fight and dedication from him was immense! Top skipper too, almost captained us to another Treble in 08.. Thanks for all the memories Gary, you'll always be a club legend! GGMU

Gary is maybe not the best of his generation but I admire him for always been consistent througt all this years, always being in starting XI of Sir Alex, captain of the team too. He always played for the badge and love this club so much. I respect him for all of that and wish him the best in everything he undertake.

19:00 that’s Exactly why England never made it to a final or won anything.. that team we had at its peak was light years ahead of what’s just got to Wembley final against Italy. The difference is they all absolutely love each other. if Garry’s England had even half of the love these new guys have for each other on & off the pitch would of been unbelievable. Such a shame.

@@Nopi9 you see players like rice and mount they will comment on each other pictures “😍❤️” go on holiday together.. you watch the training camps all playing basketball Henderson with Pickford laughing.. stevie , Rio , Lampard all said they wouldn’t even sit at the same table when together for England.

The thing that made the Golden Generation of England so great was they were all great rivals were each other, it just so happens that that same rivalry prevented them from being a team at the national level. That's why you get statements like "why are the players hugging each other after a loss". It was just a different time back then

Would Gary have been unable to coach with United along Ole due to his links with Salford cos if not I’m surprised he wasn’t brought into the club for some kind of coaching position and managerial experience if he’s not scarred for life after Valencia (always a task to far im sure he will admit) but Gary at United just seems inevitable even if he’s the assistant kit man !

@Analog technically better but in terms of heart, desire and consistency over a ten plus year period full of trophies and captain towards the end you still have to put him in the premier league all time eleven at rb but you’re right if both Trent and James stay consistent for the next 7 or 8 years then they’ll be the names for the rb position along side Neville
