I enjoyed listening to Gary doing his afternoon show in KMPC in Los Angeles. He was part of a talented group of people back in the 70s. He's surely missed.

Gary Owens was a master broadcaster. Great voice, fabulous delivery, with a sense of mischief. Britain's greatest broadcaster Kenny Everett used lots of the Gary Owens Special Report features in his shows in the 70s,.This is your offstage announcer saying "Thank You for the Memories, Gary". And remember : Don't Eat The Smithsonian Institute.

It was a privilege growing up in the 60s with Gary Owens on KMPC 710 in Los Angeles doing the afternoon show during rush hour. Spent many, many Friday afternoons/early evenings driving out of town during rush hour with G.O. leaving us in stitches with his quick wit and quirky sense of humor. Rush hour didn't seem to take as long. What a rare talent; more than a disc jockey, he was a performer -- the standard by which all the other local radio personalities were judged back in the day.

In the town I'm in, our community theatre is doing Martin and Rowan's Laugh In. I get the true honor and privilege of being the late Gary Owens. Thank you Gary for the inspiration to find "that voice"

I knew him from his later work as the narrator from Space Quest 4 and 6 and Space Ghost. Then I realized how many other voices he was that I was too young to notice or appreciate until a few years ago. I would spend hours on KZbin and wherever I could find to hear his jokes and his golden voice.

Love Space Quest but have no interest in Space Ghost unless it's the original from the 60s.

I had the honor of knowing Gary a little bit. He used to come into the office quite a bit and chatted us up. He brought us a Christmas present one year and was very kind man.

710 KMPC. 🎶. My childhood in late-1960’s L.A. could be summed up in that voice. I wish more of these clips were posted.

I grew up in St. Louis with "Fun Radio WIL 1430" in the early 60s. Great jocks went on to New York's Number One, 77 WABC. BIG Dan Ingram, Gary Stevens, Ron Lundy, Gary Owens and the often-fired Robin Scott. Gary Owens was in the morning and Bob Osborn came on in the evening. So....it was "GO in the morning and BO at night". Great stuff every day. So sad it's all gone now.

I didn't know why Gary Owens was until I watched this video. Being a Radio Guy, and an AM Radio Activist, I enjoyed it. Gary had a fantastic, cool voice! A very warm personality! I hate seeing these guys are dying off. The "Wanna-Be" D.J.s of today mostly suck, have no talent! Maybe I'm just getting older because I turn 51 in May of 2105. He played Sammie Davis Jr's "CandyMan!" That song is from my era as it was on Pop/Rock Radio when I was a kid.

For many years and still to this day I was told by many that I was a look alike. I was having lunch at the Farmers market and A man was leaving with his wife and he waved to me as he walked out and yelled hi Gary.........

I just learned while watching Newhart on Antenna TV. Funny how often I learn about these kind of things while watching reruns. I think i learned Belushi died while watching SNL reruns.

If he works for WNBC in 1984, he must give Donald Imus a lesson not to fool around with him.
