Am I the only one who sees VHFair Warning as a beautiful & dark gem of EVH's mind? Some of the parts are NOT of R&R - but of ethereal origin! When I bought the album & played it on my stereo MY MIND was not ready for the journey - VH's prev recs gave no clues. Dirty Movies, Push Comes to Shove, Sunday Afternoon in the Park, One Foot out the Door, the solo section of Hear About It Later - they blew my F'n mind! I've never been the same since April 29, 1981 ... thank the music gods!

It is a fooking masterpiece. Fair Warning is (IMO) by far the best album of any VH incarnation, is easily an overall top 10 1980s album, and MAN it has just aged incredibly well. Sunday Afternoon/ One Foot remains to this day as my favorite thing(s) VH has done. BTW, great work on the song, Gary!

Linus 6626 Feynstein - Right? I get real sick of metal elitists who only listen to newer death metal/-core/“math”/djent and whatever the fuck else kind of shit that is mostly noise and where the intruments and vocal are pretty much all indestinguishable from each other, acting like they know it all and have the best taste because their shit is HEAVIER and/or FASTER. Lol sorry for the rant(not really though), but it really irks me. I have had my times/phases of listening to a decent amount of that kind of stuff-it all has its place once in a while- but man.... 😅

The tone on Fair Warning is next level by a huge step. EVH's progression is off the charts. This song in particular is jaw-dropping and the tone is blistering. Side two gets a little lighter but ends on Sunday in the Park/One Foot out the Door. One-two punch ending. Great job interpreting this song Gary - hell of a task.

Gary this is the most intense combination of 2 guitar tracks, combined into a seamless part. You have the tone, the groove,the chops and feel of EVH. I think he would be pissed off you pulled this rabbit outta the hat. I have watched this video for years now...but I have not tried your way yet. It looks easy,but I know Ed...and is NOT EASY to do! You are a super guitarist with an obvious passion for Van Halen, or Ed, and I wish I could find more of your stuff. GREAT WORK GARY!!

Great job Gary!! You captured the "vibe" of the riffs perfec!!. VH rules. Tom Morello said it best: "If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." And Fair Warning is their prime. This song has such a textured riff and Dave's vocals are amazing. I played this audio through my surround sound after converting it and your guitar track sounds fucking awesome! great tune

dang! thanks to you.. i finally got it, and i been playing a long time! but if i see it... like in watching you, its a done deal and that little part you added/created to cover 'both parts' as you say, works just great!! there a r e very little subtle things that are ever so slightly different than the recording, but thats expected as no one can play it ever as good or with the exact feel as Ed originally did; but you did a 99.9 percenter! and i can now play it with confidence! thanks Gary!

@McMinnManiac5 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling he is playing a bass line, as well as using keyboard chords . As far as how well Eddie could play keys ;Ed Van Halen has a vision, where as every instrument he spends time developing chops, and technique, has his melodic signature. As far as if Ed could actually play classical or jazz pieces on piano, no one knows, there is no actual recording of such a thing As far as songwriting, I have never heard anyone put a bridge middle section as cool as ,"Jump" in any song arrangement. it is one of the the archetypes , of a really interesting interlude, for sure! MAB did a really cool medley of Van Halen , where. The melodic ideas of both guitar, and keys, are played on just guitar! It's so good , you forget he's fast
@jasoncharles94814 жыл бұрын
Eddie was such a writing and arranging genius, something that is often overlooked. Everybody talks about his leads but this is what separated him from everyone else. Total genius who was able to sneak in complex lines and harmonies into rock songs and make them catchy.
