I stopped listening to country music radio when they stopped playing country music, and I stopped watching NASCAR when Harry Gant stopped racing. It is nice to listen to real country and sharing it with friends at dirt race track in Kentucky. REAL country and REAL racing.

Gary Stewart at His Best. I've Been aTrue Fan Since I First Heard Gary Sing "Drinking Thing" During My High School Days, (Late Sixties)... And Here I Sit Still Listening to the Man, "Out of Hand" , "Backsliders' Wine", "She's Acting Single, I'm Drinking Doubles", "Single Again", "You're Not the Woman, You Used to be", to Name a Few... I never get tired of listening to Gary and his unique reverberating voice especially these rare finds on KZbin. I was in Duluth in 91' looking through the CDs at Best Buy and came across his greatest hits because a friend turned me on to him and every time I come across a new tune I haven't heard I have to listen never being disappointed. Try him , he's got a lot of great music for any emotion or relative experience. 👍🎸🔊🤘🍻🥃Take the whiskey trip it just might take the fight outta ya ! Lol

Another of my favorite Gary Stewart songs. He is one of the very best. Never be another one like him. 🎹💕🎹🔥❤️🌹🕊️ BTW, Gary's wife didn't leave him. She was his high school sweetheart and they were married for over 40 years. She died of double pneumonia. Gary didn't commit suicide because of this. Please read what I wrote to benniesweat.

I first saw Gerry Stewart with Jerry Lee Lewis, I was impressed, he had a lot of tragedies in his life, They say he killed himself because his wife died, if he loved her that much, that would be reason enough to carry on in her memory.
@country8543 Жыл бұрын
@benniesweat9848 You heard wrong. Yes Gary lost his wife, who he loved, to double pneumonia. He didn't kill himself because of that. He was deeply depressed when this happened. His doctor gave him Prozac, knowing he should not, because it had been taken off the market, since it caused too many people to commit suicide. Further more, his doctor, and all doctors, knew to ask their patients 2 questions before giving them Prozac, before it was removed off the market. Those 2 questions are: 1) Are you aggressive? and 2) Are you suicidal? If the patient answers YES, to either question, the doctor is NOT to prescribe it. Gary had taken Prozac, which his doctor gave him for at least 3 days, and then killed himself. If he had NOT been given the deadly, off the market Prozac, he would have lived. You can Google it for yourself.

@starr522 Your comments are so true. It has bewildered me how some of the people supposedly singing country songs are so well liked, when nothing they sing sounds country at all. Absolutely nothing personally against any of them, but what they're selling these days by the folks you've mentioned doesn't even vaguely remind me of the country music I remember.

My favorite Tear Jerker is Drinking Again it brings me back to the ONE MAN I WAS IN LOVE WITH who would not quit drinking, needles to say divorce was inevitable and he was found dead of a massive heart attack about 7 years ago ,I still cry when I hear Gary sing this song. I live across the street from his Beautiful Daughter Shannon and her husband Royce still in the house she was born in,she is a wonderful person I Love them both.

Was thinking the other day; wouldn't it be great if someone would do a compulation of Gary's songs and the artist that came to me was Billy Joe Royal. What are your thoughts.

Sadly, Lee, the great Billy Joe Royal passed away himself just a couple years back. Inspired selection though. He could easily have done justice to Gary's classics.B.W.

While I agree with your comment of a month ago, I' m old nd I' slow now. lol Anyway. Money is what drives Music. The Excecs, on the Row sold us all out. Even the 60 and over crowd that controls the industry. The voices and the respect went to hell. Now they try and force Taylor Swift, Daruis Rucker and the rest of the crap on us. I guess we missed Billy Ray Cyrus' little girl being forced on us. No she was played stupid in a weekly TV program. Him as well. Just ranting.
