I reckon most of your viewers - most of all golf youtube viewers - probably play a lot more like Rob than yourself, Gary. Love seeing 'normal' handicap golfers on youtube. There should be much more of it! I'm a 54-year old, 18-handicap and I've been playing the Caley 01T irons for about 2 months and love them! Only been playing a few years and never tried graphite shafts. I wonder now if I should have thought about it?

I think you’re right, I know I need to add abit more detail into these reviews, but I think the combo of a high and low hcp does work. They look amazing 😍 I wouldn’t worry too much about graphite atm, the differences are so subtle these days. You can’t tell in flex, it’s more that you can feel more from the head, and they fly a touch higher.

Great show again mate, big thanks to Rob for getting out there, maybe get Rob along for some new driver testing as I think he strikes the ball like most of us and will really show how forgiving these clubs are, keep them coming.

Yeah, I think it works pretty well have a high and low hcp perspective. Got a couple of experiments I’m looking forwards to trying with him.

Everytime I try graphite, I really like them, but having used steel all my life, I just bottle pulling the trigger.

Great and honest vlog Gary, 👍 I like the idea behind what both Caley and Takomo are building their clubs, making them look like players irons but built in with help, I,m 66 now and thinking about going down the graphite shaft route.

Graphites are good as ever! It’s not got as much torque as it used too, so you can’t feel must difference, just lighter and launches higher.

At 62 years old, I bought the Tacoma 101 with steel. I since had graphite shafts put in them and it has made a big difference. I can feel the head more and the feel on my joints with the graphite is much better. It seems that I swing more controlled with the graphite.

That first hole with 3Wood think we’ve all been there on camera nerves I’ve done that loads of times off camera but them good holes keep us coming bk for more

Well done, this is exactly what high handicap golf looks like. I think Rob might do better with graphite shafts in his Takomos.

Had my caley irons for a year and have changed to P790s. They are good for the money but i dont mark up real easy and you can tell the difference massively between the caley and the P790s in the P790 favour. Took 5 weeks for the caleys to turn up from china so keep that in mind.

I'm going to stick my neck out and venture that the Caley 01Ts and the Takomo 101Ts are the same club with different branding. Got the Caleys due to the Scottish link. Regretting not getting the graphite shafts. Might pass current set down to youngest and get the graphite ones.

Nice video. Unfortunately, there's no choice for me between the two brands because Caley does not ship to Germany. So there's only Takomo left for me. That's quite a little disappointing. I started playing golf one year ago, and I really worked a lot and improved my game. Within one year, I lowered my handicap to 15,9 ( even though I know that it probably will be very hard to keep it that low from now on😅 ) and I really want to try a more workable club like the 101T. But after spending a lot of money on my Mizuno 923 Hot Metal, I'm glad to have at least one possibility to do so, without spending over 1000€ again.

I didn’t realise that. Sorry. The hot metal irons are really nice and I wouldn’t rush to change them yet. I think I went from a full cavity to smaller head to mainly be able to control the ball more in wind (lower flights) and to improve feel and back to front dispersion. If that’s where you start to struggle, it may be worth looking for a more mid sized head.

As a left-hander, it's difficult enough to get clubs from the 'big' brands. It'd be interesting to see how these DTC brands cater for lefties.

Went and had a fitting. Irons tested> Taylor Made, Ping, Srixon,Titleist, Mizuno. Went with Mizuno Pro 245's regular graphite shafts. They were butter. Get them this week. I'll be like a kid at Christmas morning. Fwiw, i'm 72, left handed, and a 12 handicapper. Was using Callaway Apex pro irons.

Great question! If you’d asked me that 5 years ago, I’d of said yes, but I’ve tested a few graphite shafts now, and you literally can’t tell any difference in flex, all I can say, is you can feel the head more with graphite, but the shaft feels the same stiffness.

The Caley 01 iron is more comparable to the takomo 101 , the caley 01t in the video is there version of a players iron great cubs👍🏾

Gaz I believe that the Takomo and Caley irons are made in the same factory which is why they are nearly identical.

Pretty sure they're the same ODM with slight tweaks and different badging to avoid being completely the same. Honestly, the shaft and loft changes will cause the biggest difference in performance and feel.

Yes - we all suffer the highs and lows during our rounds and it is good to see those issues in the vlogs and how, as mid-high handicappers, we all deal with them 🏌

I know, it is a-shame. It’s definitely where they save their costs, supplying Direct. Hopefully they’ll be a way in the future. Maybe if they had a few golf clubs around with a bag of demos 👋🏽😃😄

The Caley 01t is different than the Caley 01. Like the Takomo 101t is different than the 101's. t's have less offset, smaller head and swing wt.

The Caley 01T would equal Takomo 101T & 01 equals 101. Not quite an even test. They are all good clubs though.

Just done a True blind test, to see if Graphite would be a good option for me, just on how they feel. I used two Maverick irons one steel one graphite, a Callaway X20 and my Takomo, all 7 irons. I swung the clubs eyes shut and my partner (who is now totally convinced golfers are mad!!), passed me the clubs and then put them in order according to my feelings. Expected Results: my thoughts before I new was, Maverick graphite, Takomo, Maverick steel, X20, Actual results: X20 & Takomo, very close, the Maverick steel and last by a way the Maverick graphite. Going to see what happens at the range, but graphite appears not to work for me. Takomo Rules🤣🤣
