I think that a lot of you are trying to hide insecurities that your family, friends, or coworkers have imposed upon you which is actually making you more insecure as a result of keeping it a secret. If you were to just make your insecurities public on Instagram, on Facebook, on KZbin, etc. you would feel liberated by the fact that you don't have anything to hide anymore...
Really enjoyed getting to spend the day in Toronto to give a quick keynote and drop the Crushing It! edition of my GaryVee 001s! Let me know what you thought about this vlog being a bit more long-form than normal! Your comments are my oxygen!!!
Thank you for watching this video. I hope that you keep up with the daily videos I post on the channel, subscribe, and share your learnings with those that need to hear it. Your comments are my oxygen, so please take a second and say ‘Hey’ ;).

This is exactly what my friend told me a few months ago when literally everything went really wrong for me and honestly the more strongly I got it into my head that it was OK to take time off being productive to be emotional, the faster I was actually able to get back to being productive.

I used to care so much about other people’s opinions, but how can you win when you live for other people’s criticism? Whatever you do people are gonna judge and criticise, even Gary will have his haters. We all have our insecurities but we can’t let them control our ambition or dreams, real talk!

I wanted to comment on this because it speaks to me on a huge level. I'm a twitch streamer. I play videogames live. Or just chat with people live. Depending on the day. I started because me and my step dad were supposed to do it together. A year ago he had a heart attack and passed away. I started streaming the week after the funeral. I moved back home to help my mom and brother. My brother is autistic. He can never live alone. So I moved back home. I've also been cooking for 16 years. Been in kitchens since I was 14 years old. But I decided to throw myself into gaming. It got me through a tough time in my life and I've always gone back to gaming. As of right now I have 1120 followers on twitch. I'm affiliated with a clothing company. And I have shirts and hats being made for my channel. I've been watching all of your videos since I've started streaming. You are a huge inspiration. Thank you for all you do.

Something I wish I knew in my twenties was what Gary told that young boy about not worrying about a 2 week or 3-4 month slump and basically judging yourself when everything is at it's worst. It's not until recently in my 30's that I'm starting to better recognize that life really is a roller coaster that can have some very high peaks and very low bottoms. In my 20's when I'd hit some of those bottoms I thought that feeling or bad luck was a permanent thing and that it would never cycle up again. 3-4 months of tragedy and disaster and at that age you're not sure if it really does pass or not. The big thing I learnt by the time I got to 30 is that you're on a roller coaster ride and you just have to accept that the lows will happen but also that they aren't permanent and will pass.

My greatest insecurity is my stutter. I was born with it and I’ve stuttered all my life, It’s frustrating and embarrassing but it’s just something I’ll have to deal with. So many people (from my personal experience) have no clue what that is which leads them coming up with their own diagnosis of “what’s wrong with him” What irritates me the most is whenever somebody first notices my stutter they immediately ask, Are you nervous? Which I’m not, but I hate having to validate myself to new people I meet. I just feel if there was more awareness about stuttering I would be accepted into society

Then make your platform about bringing awareness to stuttering. It's all about turning your weaknesses into strengths
@TeamGaryVee
@TeamGaryVee 6 жыл бұрын
One great way to get over this and address it is by opening up the your conversation by acknowledging that you stutter. For example "Hi, my name is _____. It's great to meet you! Also, really quick, just to throw this out there, I have a speech impediment, which is why I may stutter from time to time." This may sound a little funny or awkward to say at the beginning of a conversation, but it will address everything upfront, so that you don't have to worry about people thinking about it or asking questions about it. - Team GaryVee

@patriciasullivan27

Sir Bamboozle I stutter too. Yes it sucks. I've gotten all the same comments about diagnosis and nervousness or just what I call "the face"… That look that people get when I start to stutter and theyve never heard of person that stutters before. Also, the straight up laughing at me. That's always fun. I finally have gotten to a place of more acceptance of it. So much so that I started going to monthly local meetings of the national stuttering association. It was such an eye-opener for me and ,at the risk of sounding a little woo woo, soul healing for me. Being around vibrant, thoughtful, successful, full of life people that also stuttered was so amazing. If you have a chapter in your area you may want to check it out. Or feel free to get in touch with me if you want to talk to somebody else who stutters.

Watching this during Covid 19. Just started a fashion channel a month ago, and first video was wearing no make up sitting up in bed at night. There are so many things that resonated with me in this video. 1. Following your dreams is lonely and I didn’t realize it until I started to purse my dreams. It’s been hard to deal with but I’m still moving forward. Hearing this in your video was inspiring. 2. If your going through an emotional challenge in regards to your personal life it’s okay to have that slump but just get back up and keep moving forward. There has been so much challenges in this area for me and hearing you talk about this to the kids in the video helped me realize I’m not alone and that’s normal. Thank you Gary. I respect what you do and can’t wait to thank you in person one day.

Your comment on loneliness and how you have to be unbelievably emotionally strong to deal with it really struck me. My approach in the past has been to fight the loneliness and fill it, like most people, but in the last 6 months I’ve pivoted on that slightly and I think I’m about to be even more intentional about accepting it and probably even pursuing it. Thank you for your content, I obsessively consume it.

Wow! Wow! Your counsel to the guy who wanted advice on overcoming a bad childhood. (20:56) was prophetic. I have been feeling this for 10-15 years. Now you've just given me the tools to put a name to these feelings. I've always just wanted to verbally puke on anyone who would listen to my struggles, fears, weaknesses but have always held back. Held back for fear of being negative or whining or being a sissy about my situation. Thinking "no one wants to hear this". Fear of attracting more of the same by sharing it with others in similar situations (water seeks it's own level type of thinking) The "fear of man" is powerful...and stupid. I am going to share this part of my story on my podcast, KZbin and Medium accounts.

People called me a crybaby and to get over it, but other people found it inspiring. It's just my truth...and I'm tired of holding it in. Much love to you Gary.

Great advice. The real power of our personal brands comes from accepting both our strengths and our flaws. The combination of both is what makes each of us unique and makes our perspectives worth sharing.

Great Dailyvee. Thanks for putting mental health on notice. It's been a good week with people coming out about their struggles. Big fan of Drock and Babin. But wow. Iris. She hits that emotional place that makes Dailyvee go from a vlog to something personal. We will look back in 10 years and recognize that Drock, Babin, and Iris were something special.

Yep. I can totally tell that GV's emotional intelligence is spreading to your team. While you guys make a difference in the business world, you can make even a bigger difference in the mental health community. I have always hoped that GV would use his platform to put mental health on notice. Look at what logic did with the 1-800 song. Look at the impact of Demar Derozan, Kevin Love, and Kelly Oubre Jr coming out about their emotional struggles this week. Its lobbed up there for ya ;)

Honestly. If you want to make it to the top then you will, but that has to be your goal. What you eat sleep and breathe, is just making it to the top. For me, my goal is to make it doing what I enjoy and not working for a company. I don’t know exactly what it is yet, but I’ve started to scratch the service in editing my videos and creating something on my KZbin channel. But I’m also the biggest obstacle in my way. I literally lack belief in myself and no long ago I’ve told myself how much I just hate myself. Being aware of this, makes me feel so inadequate and that I don’t have what it takes to make it. I wish I could have someone to just kick me in the face and tell me to knock it off every day. Give me advice on how to do this, then maybe I can make it places.

I love listening to you, because you preach no frills, hard work and a be a good person. Ive been around people who got further faster in a shorter amount of time because they were flashy and good talkers. But I'm playing the long game and getting there my own way and being good at what I do, rather than looking like I'm good at what I do. Because those people will get found out after awhile of being frauds and it takes more effort pretending you know what your doing. Keep up the good work Gary!!!!

This episode was fire!!! Great job, Gary, and awesome work as always from Iris! This episode speaks to me so much so I felt compelled to comment! Thank you for this wisdom. I'm going to take this and make it motivate me to do more. As for it being a longer-form Daily Vee, I'm OK with that when there is this much fire content! Your team knows what is best. When there is 23 minutes of fire, you make it 23 minutes. If it's a day when there's only 7 good minutes, you go with that! Keep up the great work!
