Nice one Gary! Those Coalies are good sport - don't hear of many being caught here in the far South West. Not had so much time for KZbin lately and missed a few of yours, so working my way back through them. Impressed with those Razorclaw lures so have ordered a few, and have been dithering over a new spinning rod, so the Abu tormentor is now on my shopping list. I daren't ask what reel you're using else I may end up bankrupt! 😁😁 Thanks for the videos mate - stay safe & well. 👍👍
@fishingintheukgarywood3 жыл бұрын
Thanks trampster, yeah can always depend on the coalies for a bit sport on the spinning rod theres loads about at the min. The razorclaws seem to be good for a few different species ive stocked up on them haha the reels a little daiwa 3000 small but effective 👌

How can you tell the difference from a coalie to a pollack they look really similar in my opinion?
@fishingintheukgarywood10 ай бұрын
Yes, they look quite similar, but they have a couple of differences. The lateral lines are different. The coleys have a straight line and pollock has a curved one, and a pollack usually has a prominent protruding lower jaw.

@fishingintheukgarywood8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if Tynemouth pier is going to be open any time soon because of the damage that was done in the storms. I know they aren't opening shields pier for a good while. The mackerel haven't arrived yet but there should be pollock and coleys about.

What months are the best fof mackeral from pier or rocks would you say

Hi mate, I am up in Aberdeen Scotland and been trying for these buggers since March just to see what time of the year they appear. This is my first year fishing for Mackerel. Is there any better time of day for this, first light or last light or does it not really matter what time of the day ?
@fishingintheukgarywood3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, they seem to have been really late in coming in this year. I usually prefer to fish for them first and last light but when they are fully in you can catch them most of the day.

@@fishingintheukgarywood spinners
@fishingintheukgarywood3 жыл бұрын
Try not to let them sink to long. Soon as your spinner hits the water count for a few seconds say 5 or 6 then start your retrieve. I've explained the count down method in my latest video the pollack catch and cook one have a watch of that if you get time hopefully that will demonstrate what I mean because you can use the same method to fish with spinners on the pier aswell.
