On GE Monogram cook tops (And I suspect a lot of others but can't confirm), there are two gas orifices...a main one in the down in the center of the burner (remove the individual burner to see these) and a smaller one to the side. The small one is what sends gas/flame to the spark igniter. It has a REAL tiny opening, and if it gets the least bit clogged, no flame routes over to the spark igniter to heat it to tell the main control module that burner is operating....even though the main gas orifice is supply plenty of gas to run the burner. Clean that small jet with some rubbing alcohol and a tiny sewing needle, get the gas flowing out of it again, and you'll solve your problem most of the time.

Do you have a picture of this somewhere? We keep replacing the module/switch thing like in this video, it works, then eventually it happens again. I think what you're describing is what's happening, but it gets cleared through the action of taking the whole cooktop off.

Whirlpool. When I moved in they didn't spark at all. I performed a self-clean and now the stovetop sparks whenever the oven or stovetop is warm from another burner. It's aggravated by placing the hot pot on an empty burner. I thought it correlated to heat, as after the elements are off it may still spark until the range cools a bit, but a short makes more sense, or a safety sensor based on heat. Thermostats on heating appliances are frequently inaccurate.

One of my KitchenAid burners was sparking. I set the dial to desired position but kept pressed it down for several seconds and it stopped sparking. Have no idea what it was....

All my burners kept clicking for a a couple of days. I unplugged the stove and tried cleaning the burners but they stayed clicking even after a day of drying (unplugged). I decided to check 8 months after use a lighter to turn our stove on and no more clicking. I wish I would have tried plugging it up after a week. 🤦‍♂️

that happened to me. what happened is that the clean cycle melted two of the spark ignition switches and the switch contacts were shorted closed.

i Have a Kenmore Stove, i Noticed the Oven would turn on & off by it's self, So i would only plug it in when i was going to use it, then one day the oven would not light, so i bought a New Glow igniter & Put it in, i asked the guy where i bought the part, " He Fixes" Stoves, i told him it turns on & off by its self, He Said you Mean when the Knob is in the on Position ? i said NO, when it is in the off Position, He Said you know it has a Thermostat in the oven knob ? i said i know that, but what would cause it to turn on by its self ? he said it did not make since, i agree but that is what is happening, so i just plug it in when i need to use it, "anyone have an answer " Help !
