You wouldn’t like it dull and boring. Steve’s a real working man.

I've worked for several companies over the years and several have given me vans with no parts and sent me out to repair systems!!!! These companies are all about sales, could care less about the customer! Granted most techs i've worked with are about sales too, couldn't fix it if they tried ,no concept of how they work! I use to go in 30 minutes early to restock my van and boss man would be hollering at me on my own time!!!! Met very few techs that actually know what thier doing and take the time to properly diagnose. You're one of the few good ones!

I have a 29 year old Rheem. I keep an extra hot serfice igniter as a backup up.
@mph58968 ай бұрын
Yeah, I keep a flame sensor, igniter and a used board on hand. A couple batteries as well for the thermostat. Years ago I was changing an igniter on my furnace. Fumbled it and it shattered when it hit the ground. Had to wait days for a new one👎

Yup, that’s my exact furnace at home. Definitely from the mid 90’s. It’s been dependable. Just the standard replacement parts for wear and tear. ❤

Hey Steve, I used to have the same problems with those metal suspenders. I wear those plastic clip suspenders now. They clip right under your belt. They work really good.

If you have a part in your van that you have had for years, how do you set the price on it? What the replacement cost is?
@AmericanFarmerHVAC20248 ай бұрын
I would have checked the HX by pulling out the main limit, they always crack right there. Maybe this one was ok being it's a tiny furnace, what, 40 or 45,000 btus or so.
@samsquires28778 ай бұрын
This is the exact reason why I like Rheem and Ruud direct spark ignition. Much more reliable.

I have been installing Carrier for almost 40 years.this furnace is from the mid 90’s and if that’s the factory hot surface,looks like it is,would say that’s pretty good
@onitnelaveno8 ай бұрын
This igniter is the same as they use in some whirlpool gas dryers , they have the same plug so it’s easy to install on this Bryant heater , I have to say Steve guesses are painful to watch !

Hello Steve!
@SuperComfee8 ай бұрын
That specific Ignitor should have a room temperature Ohm resistance of 40-100 ohms. always make sure when you ohm it, it's not hot as that will effect accuracy. in this case it was cracked so there wasn't any electrical resistance as the path for electricity to flow has been compromised.

Hey Steve I have a intermittent pilot on a secondary unit in my House the flipping thing sparks ignites the pilot turns on main burner and then shuts off it does this 2-10 times before it kicks on.. it never does not light its just weird cuz I don’t know does the pilot suppose to stay on to continue proving the flame or does the burners suppose to take over once the burner does kick on it’s hard to tell if the pilot is still lit or not there’s a little sight door and I swear if I lightly blow while it lights the the burner it seems to stay going like the flame is not in the sensor correctly it was a lp then got converted to natural gas when they added it down my road all before my time it’s just annoying to listen to
