You're smitten with DCC Sound... When I was introduced to DCC Sound, I was hooked. DCC alone is okay... but, add sound...BEAUTY! When I first had a DC/DCC Sound locomotive, I had only a DC controller... The advantage of DC control is you can hook it up to your ordinary Timer you plug into a wall. Plug in your power pack, set the timer... and you have a wonderful wake-up alarm... except it's your locomotive firing up and starting to roll around your layout! It's a treasure I will always remember! John BC, Canada

What a great model. With age I’ve come to appreciate « corporate image » BR blue which was boring and hated when it was all there was back in the 70’s and 80’s. (I well remember how excited we all got when 40106 was turned out in BR green!). Since they originally planned that the BR standard steam locomotives would take them into the 1980’s (until the 1955 modernisation plan came), I think I quite fancy the idea of a 9F in BR blue, that will be a future projet methinks… I well remember being rather shocked that the V of R was running one of its ex GWR 2-6-2T’s in BR blue with yellow buffer beams in the 80’s. Whatever, another joyous video Mr Rose. All the best, Rob

@@lmm Yeah we went up to Aberystwyth probably about 1979 or 80 with some school mates. Blue and grey mk1´s from Birmingham with a class 40 whistler on the front. They were replacing the signaling with colour light signals at the time and all the semaphore equipment was just lying in a pile at the end of the platform. I wanted a signal arm, but didn’t realize how huge it was until I got close up😂 I did liberate a cast iron BR (W) counter weight though and smuggled it home in my rucksack. It’s still serving me as a doorstop today!

My Bachmann 9F regularly pulls over 60 diagram 100 hoppers. Bonkers on a tailchaser, even when the long side is nearly 30ft! I had to re-wheel my Mk 1 coaches to be able to pull a full protoypical 1964 express service from the marshalling sheet. A3 pacific and 13 coaches just fits in my station.

Did you see the letters on the tender bearings? S K F that means Schweinfurter Kugellager Fabriken in Germany - one of the primary targets of the Royal Airforce during WW2! But, indeed a very pretty model of this loco, the blue and yellow, but surely the brown one, too! Are they in 00 or in H0 scale? I like unusual locomitives like that ones or the Challenger and Big Boy, also the american gas turbine locos. But they are pretty expensive and not all are to get in N-scale, what I prefere! Nice VLOG about this loco type I never heard before! Thank You ! ! !

SKF was actually Swedish they still exist in the USA, during WW2 we used to collect our orders for ball bearings from Sweden and stow them in the bomb bays of unarmed BOAC mosquitos and fly them right past the noses of ME 109's back to blighty. RHP used to make ball bearings in Chelmsford until the Japanese bought them out and closed down the factory. The site is now East Anglia Poly. I used to have mates that worked for RHP, EEV and Marconis. Whatever happened.

I didn't see/hear GT3, but I did once ride up from Bristol to Reading behind one of the other 2 18000 or 18100. It was noticeable that at Bristol it had to run from the outside platforms rather than the usual London trains platform just inside the main entrance. It appears that the noise of the jet engine echoing round the train shed would have been too much for passengers ears. I don't .know what happened on arrival in Paddington though I believe when departing Paddington it would not have been inside the train shed. Presumably the same would have been true of GT3 and indeed APT-E later. Those noise generators are great though aren't they. I keep thinking that the people who make them should develop a similar system to fit to electric cars. Just imagine an electric car sounding like a straight six or a big V8.

They can indeed, though it's deceptive. A dublo three rail Loco may pull only four or 5 coaches, but the baring and weight used mean they're heavier and roll less freely.

A better 'Neverwazza' would be BR loco green livery (possibly with number 18200, in series with the other two gas turbines). As for the real loco, a cab at each end might have made it more useful. As is, it would need turntables at its usual terminii.
