What a fun collection you've found, I love that B1 and all the interesting little wagons you've found. Should make for a fun layout! I once found a green Triang Princess... ...Tender in a box in a barn once along with a few of the coaches with the big flanges.

Oh man, it was always incredible to pull out big utility totes or old shoeboxes and rummage through all of the ancient toy-trains that used to be loved by an imaginative boy or hadn't been touched because of economic failures forcing a move. Even after all these years, still a great joy, more so when the trains still work.

As someone who repairs old model trains for fun, I'd hazard that (barring any burned out motors or missing/damaged parts) A thorough cleaning, and lubrication, will put all those little locomotives back in business! Funny enough the "Thomas loco" reminds me of my own experience, I found an O scale Thomas for dirt cheap at a thrift store, and bought it. I don't prefer my trains with faces on them, but I recalled all the locomotive characters originally from "the railway series" were based upon real locomotives/locomotive classes. After some searching, I found that Thomas is loosely modeled after a Class E2 tank. Real E2s never had the splashers over the leading drivers, and were less stumpy in appearance, but I decided regardless, to work on turning my "Thomas" into a representation of a class E2 in BR black livery with red trim. I haven't done much with it, besides a test paint job I will need to redo anyway, but hopefully at some point I round that project off.

I could tell you a few things about the American trains, I recognized the colors of the Union Pacific boxcar (yellow and silver), it's all HO (Half O-scale) -scale, the most common here in the USA. N-scale is the next size down, followed by Z-scale which is so tiny that a locomotive could make a nice adornment for a tie-clasp. Cheers from across the pond, sir!

Years after a rather traumatic experience I ran across my old “O” gauge train. It now gathers dust in my garage as I need to work on the engine. My grandson will enjoy it when I get it running again. Looking forward to your upcoming trial runs and of course, the box.

I can tell you the Hornsby green 040 and red tool wagon are out of the 90's industrial rail freight set. Depending on year this would vary. Looks like a good collection :) I was fortunate I inherited my granddad's trains and a friends collection so I recognise the joy of opening up. Looking forward to the station set :)

The big Turbo i rebuilded for the restoration i still have in a big box after salvaging it from the remains. To my Surprise when i opened the box after all those years a Roco N gauge locomotive with the same number as the real locomotive and was carefully packed in the intake of the turbo! when you had the train set boxes out, i spotted three sets that we happen to have shared over time :P also the billy engine, it will run superbly well, despite the colour scheme, and it was something bachmann did cheekily at the time which got them into a bit of trouble as the percy tooling as also used, what makes it sad though is percy could have had a front coupling as the junior not-percy had a front coupling

If I'm not mistaken, it's meant to represent a Drummond 0-4-0 industrial shunter, and it looks to me like it was based on Tri-ang's "Nellie" though to be correct, there were three 'sisters' in the set (Red, Black and Blue) but I can't remember the names of the other two, though I think the black one might have been called 'Polly' - Nellie was the blue one of the three, and later on, Hornby introduced a green version, but I think it was numbered, rather than named. However, they're all the same engine, and are near identikit to this one, but far better detailed.
