Definitely a gas for me...I don't have that industrial looking outlet...and besides if you use your Air Conditioner a lot during the summer it's better to have a gas dryer to ease the power usage...

I wonder how this has changed with the insane price of natural gas now. Is it still cheaper to run a gas dryer?

I would think so because if you use your Air Conditioner a lot during the summer a gas dryer would be better to use than an electric one.

@@danram247 you didn’t answer his question and your statement has faulty logic. You might have a cheaper power bill but your gas bill would be higher.

I have a Whirlpool Duet set, purchased in 2017, and I absolutely hate it. The washer is very loud when it adds water, and has a high pitched whistling sound during the spin cycle. It will stall mid cycle for up to 10 minutes. The dryer is the biggest issue. It has a timer to automatically adjust the time, but it adds too much time and my clothes get hot, meaning the drum will burn your hand. With the washer and dryer, the touch controls will freeze constantly, and will even stop working. I am so over whirlpoo

I've heard because gas dryers get hotter, they are more harsh on clothes. And that electric heating elements tend to have a wider range of temps compared to gas. Any truth to either of those?
@DylBuilder12 жыл бұрын
Yes. Hotter wears out the clothes and gas may make your clothes smell sort of like it.

My daughter’s electric dryer has a standard looking appliance three pronged plug. And the outlet looks like a standard double one for three pronged plugs. Nothing like what you showed. Probably because of different codes in a different state. The only thing you need to check is if there is a gas line running from your current dryer to a gas hookup in the wall. If it is hooked up then you only have gas. Some people do convert things in their homes. They rarely remove the gas hookup in the wall when they convert to electric. They just cut off the source. So if the current dryer does not have a gas line, it is electric. Most gas appliances no longer have a small gas flame to ignite the burners in stoves, ovens, and water heaters. They are ignited electronically (piezoelectric). I discovered you have to be careful how you clean around those when you remove the heads of the burners to clean under them. Had to replace two on my mom’s cooktop.

Sounds like her dryer might be a heat pump dryer...that's a whole different animal but they are very popular in Europe and becoming more common here in the States.

Do a gas dryer require electricity as well
@DesignerAppliances11 ай бұрын
Yes, gas dryers need electricity to power the drum and controls, typically using a standard 110-115 volt outlet. They use gas to heat the air that dries clothes, which is generally more energy-efficient. Always consult a professional for safe installation.

I used to make maytag washers and dryers before whirlpool bought the brand. They are total crap now days. Disgrace what ge has done to the brand. Dependable care was never advertised by maytag and they sold millions. Commonly lasting 20years. I've gone through 3 washers, rebuild my dryer for the 3rd and last time in 13 years. I would have loved the opportunity to buy a new dependable care washer and dryer.

Please update your video. I completely skips the environmental component. We are Architects and design all new homes now completely without gas. Fossil fuel! Heard of the issue? Induction cooking blows gas completely out of the water. Heat pumps are also the way to go for heating and cooling. The new induction water heaters are also money savers over time. Miele makes great heat pump dryers. Just to cut down on drying time please don’t ignore the bigger issues.
@asoggyburger4792 жыл бұрын
Gas is better for the environment. Plain and simple. Take a guess where that electricity running to your homes comes from. Switching to electric everything is an out of sight out of mind issue. Roughly 80% of electricity produced in the United States is from fossil fuels.

It just kills me. Natural gas is NATURAL. The main component is methane, chemical formula is CH4. Coal (burned at your utilities company) has much more volatile gases and has mercury vapor. Also contributes to acid rain. I appreciate your comments though, but please know what you’re talking about, and be factual. The other thing to say is: nuclear power plants are the cleanest, and yes… nuclear waste can be recycled into more nuclear fuel. But if you really want the cleanest energy source, we’ll that’s Hydrogen gas, but right now too dangerous due to its rate of combustion. We’ll eventually get there.
