Real solid and honest details. Too many cover up and gloss over the brutal facts. Would add gas gun performance depends on the quality. Some new models are not as well made as older models-Remington 1100 being a prime example.

I moved to gas guns a few years back, faster shot to shot times because of the reduced felt recoil. If you want a gas gun that shoots anything get one that uses the Benelli M4 gas system. This twin piston system is very reliable, needs far less cleaning than a traditional gas system. Used in Benelli M4, Remington Versamax and Turkish Sulans.

I own a beretta a350 with the blink has system and a Benelli M2 with THE inertia system. I do not shoot any competitions with either of them but I do waterfowl hunt and shoot sporting clays and can honestly say that the blink has system can go 100’s if not into the 1000’s of round without cleaning and no cycling issue and I’m a ride it hard put away wet kind of guy with me gear. The M2 same thing. Biggest difference between the 2 is felt recoil. Gas gun shoots softer inertia fires every round under the sun but has a little more pop in the stock. The beretta needs 1200fps or more to cycle perfectly which is fine by me. Great video! Cheers from Canada eh 🍻🇨🇦🤘

Excellent presentation, I have a couple auto-5’s Silver Hunter ( which is about the worst shotgun I have owned), a Bennelli auto ie (all 12Ga’s and I have always found the Browning Auto Lt 5 has less recoil than my gas shotguns !ie( just the opposite of your conclusion). My thinking is the inertia recoil brake on the tube accounts for some of the recoil taken out ie ( with the recoil brake brass action-ring ). If the rings are set properly for the right load. 🤔😃 It has been my experience the gas guns have a faster and consistently harsher kick than the inertial guns ie (Auto-5 Lt 12Ga) 🥴

My first gun was a 1972 Remington 1100 12 ga. My husband was a VietNam vet & picked it out for me. He did very good. An inertia kicks like a mule. I’ve shot skeet with this, can shoot slugs. I still have it & as a woman it’s the only shotgun for me. Never ever a problem with this gun & it doesn’t require any special attention. I’ve had a gunsmith check it only bc of age, it’s in top shape. Remington doesn’t let you down.

I have a Benelli M1 super 90 (Inertia system), and I found it had issues only with some types of ammo (Low powered trap/skeet shells), but strangely only when I really held it hard against my shoulder. It acted better even with bad ammo when it had some slack, and then when it bumped on my shoulder it actually caused it to cycle correctly. I guess it's not possible to generalize, and every rifle is unique (Even the same brand/model acts differently depending on lots of factors).

@bgdesignandsolutions
@bgdesignandsolutions Жыл бұрын
My Stoeger M3500 will cycle rounds my Browning Maxus won't. Both will shoot light loads through heavy. However, the Maxus messes up more with the 3 1/2 inch shells. Very disappointing when you get one shot and have to clear the jam. The Stoeger doesn't do that. Use a stock weight on the Stoeger, and cycling issues go to the wayside.
@dancortes3062
@dancortes3062 2 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer gas guns. I hunt waterfowl in a cold climate and want my gun to cycle reliably if I wear thick clothing. I also like having faster follow up shots. Yes they might have more trouble cycling the light target loads but it's not hard or expensive to find shells with heavier loads.

What if the spring tension on the bolt spring of an inertia operated shotgun was lowered, so that it could cycle properly less powerful rounds and/or shoot it looselly held to the shoulder allowing the entire mass of the gun to move backwards (hence not providing the bolt enough strength to travel the distance it is supposed inside the gun in order to extract the spent case and/or feed a new one into the chamber). Is there a risk for some of the burning gunpowder from the exploding cartridge to escape through the ejection port and land on top of my face, clothes,flammable paperwork, or clean floor; If so how damaging could it be for the shotgun. Thank you I appreciate any clarity you could shine on that matter and great video by the way.
@mchenryjeremy
@mchenryjeremy 2 жыл бұрын
Then you'd start running into feeding issues where shells hang up going into the chamber. These manufacturers have the spring tension set to the optimal tension so that they can reliabily cycle as many different loads as possible.

Inertia is more reliable
@markwebster9455

I think that explanation was incorrect, the term inertia means to stay at rest which in an inertia gun, the bolt body try’s to stay at rest due to its mass, the gun needs to move rearwards from the recoil which pushes back the rotating bolt face, as the bolt face moves rearwards towards the bolt body which is trying to stay at rest due to its inertia, it compresses a spring inside the bolt body, the geometry of the bolt face causes it to rotate and unlock itself from the breach as it moves rearwards, once it’s unlocked from the breach and the spring is compressed, the energy in the spring is released and pushes the bolt rearwards, this is the secondary recoil Callum mentioned, moving rearwards it re-cocks the trigger, the spring under the fore grip then pushes the bolt back to the battery position. A bit long winded, but as far as I can see, the inertia shotgun needs to recoil freely to work.

I didnt understand why on 3:28 the gun fails when it can move farther. The answer is because to cycle properly the carrier has to have enough speed relative to the gun, and if the gun is free to move back, it catches up to the carrier. So the gun has to be able to recoil back for 4mm (0.16 inches) to compress the carrier spring. Then the spring will push the carrier back to press the cam track in the carrier against the cam lug on the bolt to unlock it, then extraction happens. After the gun traveled this 4mm it has to stop, so the carrier has enough speed relative to the gun. Theres good animation, search for "benelli inertia shotgun".

@@EnglishShooting shame. I don't live in UK so i live under different rules but your channel really helped educate me on gun ownership. Shame the authorises have gone after the teacher. I hope you get them back need to let police know that you want to work with them and not against them. So maybe a heads up warning. Instead of a revoke of guns might be adequate as your promoting legal shooting to allot of people. Your not iust 1 person applying for a licence. Need the firearms officers to monitor your posts and have them tell you to take something down that might effect your ownership or if it is that inappropriate they should ask you to take down anyway. Rather see a post removed for legal reasons than have your licenses takeb away. The truth is that you don't have to make these videos and if you didnt you would still have your licences. The objective is the get people into the sport and educate which no one else is doing. Looks like you have been thrown under a bus Shame i hope the police can work with you rarther than against the person who has same objectiveals as them No one in the legal shooting community wants to see guns purchased for illagl activity. Defears the objective in purchasing a legal firearm Thanks

@@EnglishShooting for combat uniquely gas takes first place, and for sports and hunting is quite suitable inertial system with its ease of maintenance and a much greater resource, still cleaning the gas outlet a little ,but harder...what do you say to resource breakdowns updated Beretta 1301?In Russia, the first breakage was seen on Nasrallah 3000-4000 thousand rounds.

Don't feed it cheap/low velocity loads. Also, if your shotgun was used or worn-out, upgrade the ejector and spring. Check out MOA Precision.
