Hello, both of the valves can be used for this purpose. The ball valve has full bore, and it could be better choice to avoid pressure losses.

If you can at all possible, use a ball valve. It's a miracle to have a gate valve that actually works past a year or two!

How can a gate valve handle high pressure if there's no silicon or rubber on that gate?
@Tameson2 ай бұрын
Gate valves are designed to handle high-pressure applications by using a solid gate that moves up and down to open or close the flow of fluid. The gate itself is typically made of metal, such as stainless steel or brass, which can withstand high pressures and temperatures. Here are some key points about how gate valves handle high pressure without silicon or rubber: - Metal-to-Metal Sealing: The gate and the seats are often made from metal, allowing for a tight metal-to-metal seal. This design can withstand high pressures and is less prone to wear and tear compared to softer materials like rubber or silicon. - Robust Construction: Gate valves are constructed with thick walls and strong materials that can resist the stress and strain of high-pressure environments. - Pressure Distribution: The design of the valve allows for even distribution of pressure across the gate, minimizing the risk of deformation or damage. - Minimal Leakage: The metal gate and seats, when properly machined and maintained, provide minimal leakage paths, making them suitable for high-pressure applications. - Temperature Resistance: Metals used in gate valves can also handle high temperatures, which often accompany high-pressure systems. These features make gate valves suitable for high-pressure applications in industries such as oil and gas, water treatment, and chemical processing.

What causes a ball valve to close very hard? Difficulty in closing. 3" stainless steel ball valve.
@Tameson5 ай бұрын
Hello, There are several potential causes for a ball valve to close very hard: - Debris or Contaminants: Particles or debris inside the valve can obstruct the ball, making it difficult to close. - Wear and Tear: Over time, the seals and seats can wear out, causing increased friction. - Improper Installation: If the valve is not installed correctly, it can lead to misalignment and operational issues. - Lack of Lubrication: Insufficient lubrication can cause the ball to stick. - Pressure Issues: High pressure in the system can make it harder to operate the valve. For your application, you could consider checking for debris and ensuring proper lubrication as initial steps. If the problem persists, you might want to look into replacing the seals or the entire valve.
