Gaten is legitimately a nice dude. Me and a friend of mine were in Jersey at a convention he was attending. While we were in the restaurant my buddy dropped his wrapped utensils on the floor just as Gaten was walking through the isle. Without hesitating, he immediately picked them up and placed them back on our table. My friend said thank you, and when he saw who it was, emphasized further, "Whoa, thank you!" Gaten smiled, nodded, and said, "Not a problem!" Gaten was our butler for 15 seconds lol

I don’t think the others on stranger things are getting that caught up in Hollywood mentality. The older ones all seem fine, they’ve been through the hoop enough to resist falling into that, the only younger one that seems like she might be slipping is Millie. I don’t think Gaten, Caleb, Sadie, Noah, or Finn are. Maybe, maybe Finn. But not the other four. They seem pretty down-to-earth.

But even when I used to be a much more consistently active musician for a long time, training my ear just made me more precise with the pitch recall/got me very near to having perfect pitch, and I still struggled just as much with being able to sing transposed things (at least without aggressively preparing the transposed version). Physically playing transposed things on instruments goes fine for me in terms of muscle memory and generally doesn't sound too weird for me, it's just a problem for my voice, idk why. I think it may be related to certain parts of my neurodivergence/my weird sensory processing, since I already don't have a normal relationship with sound lol. We'll probably never know! 🤷‍♂️

@@eboyeman8457 Right on. Yeah I need to get back into that regardless of reason haha. I did a TOOOONNN of time in choirs over ~20 years including several years in a pro chorale, so I got awesome training and have tons of great exercises in my head and my notebooks ... but I totally took the results for granted because I learned it all so young, and didn't realize how much effort it would take to maintain good musicianship later in life. And then later I smoked for a while too, which didn't mess up my voice as much as I'd expected, but it definitely screwed up my musical ear, which is way more regrettable IMO. But indeed, it's never too late, practice is always rewarding no matter what even for its own sake, and singing is a very important part of my life that this is inspiring me to give more time to! XD Scales and solfege and ear exercises are wildly underrated and are also a really fun meditative experience too. I wish I'd appreciated that kind of thing more when I was younger. I've sung lots of scales and other good exercises, but it wasn't until I did some martial arts in my 20s that I learned to really be intentionally _mindful_ about practicing reps of _any_ skill. If I'd been more in tune with that concept sooner and taught myself to be more attentive, I could still have practiced music the same amount throughout my life but would definitely have retained more from it and would be a much better musician now. /ramble lol but I hope anyone who stumbles across this conversation learns useful ideas!

Yeah, it's awesome for the fan, but not so great for Gaten. My reaction while watching was I felt bad for him because he looks so tired and not really wanting to do this but feeling obligated.
