It works so well on so many levels. The Scoops Ahoy car is just weirdly enjoying this. Like, if its gonna be their last moment, then Dustin and Suzie singing together is a good memory to die with. The Hopper/Joyce/Murray coalition represents adulthood and they are like "oh God, we're gonna die" (as you said). Then there's Dustin/Suzie who represent pure childhood whimsy and theres just a magic to it. Erica is incredulous to all of this.
