This game is 100% the strategy game of the year from what I experienced in the beta. If not of the year, of the decade. It is so smooth, so immersive, so much fun. Something I have been waiting for for YEARS as someone that played games during the WWII RTS boom in the early 2000's. Beyond happy with how this game turned out, it is fucking incredible.

Just to let you know, you need 4 crew to man an AT gun properly, you could also do that with 2 crew but they will move the gun and fire much slower.

I'm glad they went the more micro heavy favoured RTS gameplay, verse the grand strategy style. I like how they did the roads. Such a subtle change, just adds another level to strategy. Also I hope they allow steam workshop mods. I'm sure the fans will come up with cool content.

Damn all the new 3D art and UI looks amazing, perfect color balance and everything. Take my shekels plz. Even though the new animations look great it still has that problem where characters will stop instantly. Ideally there would be a "stop running" animation that plays when a character reaches its waypoint, that way it would look a lot less janky.

Imo the best WWII game in the moment! in case of sound presentation an realism. You literally can feel the terror and adrenaline when the artillery strikes slowly appearing to your positions, signifing the waves of sovjet soldiers coming... But besides that, the calm and silent moments in some missions preparing for attacks are terrifying as well.

Use the squad commands from the 3rd person direct control. I mapped the middle mouse button to command the squad, very helpful when splitting squads into teams

I know that "boots on the ground" it's just mostly a buzzword for Publishers and developers to kind of get people into the idea of a game being what they think it might be when thinking of original WW2 games. But I have to say if there is anything that fits that description it is that shot of the Panzer 3 when you first spawn it and are gushing at the design. Every little scratch and dent in the armour. The way the turret turn the little too slowly. The random gear strapped to the back of the tank. Everything screams character and atmosphere in a grey bleak battlefield. You can almost feel the exhaustion in the soldiers as they run through the mud.

Got access to the open beta only able to play as the soviets in a defense mission. To say the least as a old mowas player this is a MASSIVE upgrade and I mean it. Updated the direct control, graphics are very good, frames are more then 20fps even when shit goes down. Now I only hope that they don't fuck up the release because this is a solid game right now. Edit* turns out you can in fact already mod the shit out of the game. From what I saw so far. Someone added tigers to the test mission, someone else added an anime girl, and lastly someone just added modern equipped girl.
