The KV-1 you were referring to is of Zinoviy Kolobanov :P. His unit destroyed a total of 43 German tanks on the 20th of August 1941 in a prepared ambush position at a crossroads.

Love your decision to start looting! Looting and camouflage, good techniques of war. Research wise, going for the Tiger is always a good idea; Krupp steel and Porsche engines, who can defeat you? Might I suggest mortars and nebelwerfers for infantry support? So satisfying to pin down enemy infantry and see them being blast apart by indirect fire. Throw in a supply crate; swearing at the enemy isn't a viable tactic. The resupply dynamic of the conquest campaign got me thinking - could be highly useful to dump all the mg drums other infantry members squads carry to the mgunner on the battle map; when you resupply your squads, the mgunner will retain all those drums and his comrades get new ones - rinse and repeat 'till saturation, keep that MG34/ MG42 glowing red! -- if you're patient enough, the same could be done with AP, AT and Smoke grenades. One tactic I've employed successfully against the AI when attacking in MOW was to change my infantry squads to "move at will" stance, position them on the flanks of the target position, F5 (attack) somewhere close to the enemy (not too close, the infantrymen will just run there and get mowed -- pun intended -- down), and immediately break the squad with K command (makes each infantrymen move autonomously - they'll search for cover, hit the ground, throw and dodge grenades). ^^^ highly useful to first hot-key them just in case you need to quickly retreat or rush with the whole squad. Could be a good idea to provide fire support to the unlucky bastards that get sent to salvage enemy equipment; for instance, when you were defending, that Panzer could have been redeployed right in the back of the soviet tank you were aiming to repair and deny the enemy free kills on you. Some riflemen left and right of it on prone position and you're golden.

The KV-1 that you were trying to remember the name of was the Raseiniai KV which held back an entire German armored division made up of Panzer 35(t)s, Panzer 38(t)s, Panzer Is, Panzer IIs, and early model Panzer IIIs and IVs. The Pershing was originally classified as a heavy tank during WW2 by the US but after the end of the war it was reclassified as a medium tank. Edit: Is there any way to close the commander's hatch and not have him get domed?

About research points I think in your first "easy" conquest you go for Pz.4 G/H myself i would go for Pz.4 f2 and go for elite infratry. From my war thunder experience f2 have long 7.5 cm cannon like Pak 40 and Pz.4 H have almost same gun and penetration. If gates of hell have same or similar stats as War Thunder Pz. 4 f2 can take out T-34s and Kv-1/2, but not head on If you put your Pz.4 on second line far away or sacrifice some cheap infratry to force aim enemy heavy tank to something else Pz.4 f2 can do miracles like juicy side shots.

Hmm Maybe get the better inf. squads and after like one battle upgrade the tanks to the pz4d i think and switch the crew from the pzII so you could have like a elite pz4 and after that keep on upgrading the tanks and like switch the crew between the newest tanks or maybe focus some points of getting the artillery line idk lots of options. I think defenders lvl 2 are a must so these defence mission become a easyer was to earn resources... also; mortars for attack are great and since the ai allways take the same paths, they can farm many kills. Next i would recomend either pz. IV's and maybe stugs/stuhs? Keep up your great videos, love to watch them and can't wait until i get my hands on the full release!

honestly I would go for a defense level 1 or 2 if possible, those extra defenders under the ai's control during the soviet conquest were immensely useful in just having extra guys shooting at the enemy

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember reading that german tanks were classified by role and weaponry rather than weight and armor. For example the panther was considered a medium tank due to its speed of 55kph and weaponry even though it weighed as much or even more than a number of the heavy tanks of other nations such as Churchills and Pershings and just about 1 ton below the weight of an IS-2.

Yeah, that light, medium, heavy distinction can be a bit weird sometimes. Technically the medium tank is a compromise between speed of a light and armour of a heavy tank. It doesn't take into consideration the evolution of tanks tho. While the Panzer III is technically a medium tank (for it's time) it's lighter than the planned E-25 light tank. The nearly double as heavy, much more heavily armored and undoubtable more potent Panzer V is also a medium. Then again - the Panther is also heavier than the heavy tanks Pershing and Churchill and just a bit short of the IS-2.

The Pz.3 is full heartedly a medium tank in my opinion, not because of how much armor it has but bucause of its gun, Medium tanks are ment to protect infantry from enemy Armor and unlike light tanks have an actual cannon, which the Pz.3 did. I think armor is just an easy way to look at it, Bucause ovcorse a big gun dosen't mean its a good one, all variants of the T-34 dont have big Tiger style guns, but they had pretty good high velocity guns, you dont what to explain that when you categorize something, no you say it had less armor or more armor boom.

Want to try and offer up some constructive criticism when you're using smoke maybe use the movement of the unit to put them in cover while the smoke is in effect because if not you're just throwing smoke grenades to use their grenades to create a smoke cloud and then leave the unit in a perilous position until the smoke cloud clears just seems a little strange

I really hate the way the foxholes work, they build way to quickly. Throw smoke grenades, and before the smoke disappears, there is magically an entire foxhole defence system behind them. I also hate the way they just appear, rather than having any progessive buildup. I like the idea for them, but they should take much longer to build in my opinion. Same applies to trenches.

Loved the video, bought the game with the upgrade for beta access. Always invest in mortars. Most lethal weapon of the war. Better than the infantry howitzer and more mobile plus better indirect fire and will only get better as the war goes on. @@Ty2903 Have you guys taken a look at the DCG mod yet? (something tells me you have) there are some really nice features in there that would really make the Conquest mode shine even brighter. I.e managing vehicle and emplacement crew, managing squad troop size. Maybe even having the concept of a Depot where you can store all the stuff you've looted during the battles, and being able to manage the loadouts for your battalion/squads from the central Depot inventory before each battle. Kinda like escape from tarkov's Stash concept if that makes sense.
