Confirmation of Panther shot traps: The lower gun mantle of the Panther D and A had a tendency of deflecting tank rounds down towards the weak hull roof into the area in which the driver, radio operator, and transmission were housed. This was rectified in the Panther G with a newly designed gun mantle eliminating the shot trap. A second weak point found early on in the vehicle family's introduction to the war was the exposed lower sides of the hull, between the road wheels and the section of side armor that jutted out sitting above the track, that was eliminated by the application of overhanging side skirts that covered this section spanning the length of the vehicle on all variations of Panther. On the Panther: I think you were trying to say about the AT rifles, is that they were a big problem for the Panther, due to the fact that the Panther's side armor was only a merely 40mm thick. In addition to this, the soviets had a loooot of these AT rifles. This problem was not unique to the Panther however, Panzer 4s, Panzer 3s and all, also had very thin side armor. This issue was fixed by the addition of schürzen, armor plates that hang off the side of the vehicle. (There also was the Panther 2 project, which featured thicker side armor, however the schürzen proved effective, so the panther 2 was scrapped) On the shot trap. The Panther's mantlet had a particular shape to it, making rounds richochet easier when not hit flush on. If you hit high, enemy rounds would be directed upwards, no problem. But if you hit low, the shot would be directed downwards, possibly into the hull, but more likely, the turret ring. In real life, a jammed turret ring could be reason enough to abandon the vehicle (happened to Tiger 131 for instance). This issue was only fixed in late models with the addition of a "chin" on the mantlet, on version such as the Panther G, however not all G models have it.

Personally I love the Puma, even the modern Puma IFV, it's just such a nice vehicle for flanking and good for dessert missions where most of the tanks would break down due to sand and stuff like that

It also has the 2nd place as being the best IFV with no competition, I know some people would say that T-14/15 Armada is better but Puma is easy to replace and manufacture than the T-14/15

The entire front bottom half of the Panther D and A models gun mantle was a shot trap. That is why they eventually added the chin to the mantle.

The poblem on the Panther D was its gunshield it used to deflect the incoming shells into the top armour where its was easy to pen they Changed this to a gunshield wich was curved on the top and flat at the bottom

Does this game register armor thickness on tanks? Like realistically the Tigers and Panthers should be able to take just about any enemy tanks shots on the front plate but between the gap between the turret and frame.

I played this mission as in open beta, I must say that I can barely see units (especially enemy) due to the overall grey tone of graphics in the game. Hope they do sth about it before release.

Then go to the "Extra" tab in the main menu and activate the mod!
