In this guys “sermon” where he “admitted” his wrongdoings he precisely described the process of grooming a child. Identifying at risk children. Targeting them for abuse. Isolating the child from their support system. Threatening and coercing the child into not coming forward. And then, most sickening of all, he shifts the blame from his own predatory behavior to fathers who aren’t present in the lives of young girls. Highlighting what could happen to these girls if their fathers aren’t around to protect them from men like him. He actually used his disgusting and predatory behavior to reinforce an old and worn out trope that it isn’t really the fault of men like him, it’s the fault of fathers who aren’t around to protect their daughters from “men” like him. I’d like to say I’m shocked… But, we’ve seen this pattern play out so many times. Just look at the former head of the SBC who died last week. Mr. Pressler. Who had been doing this since the 70s. And was aided by others in the industry. And shielded from accountability by politicians and clergy after power and the almighty dollar. All for the low cost of the soul of a child. Disgusting.

It can happen anywhere, that is why we are told to "test the spirit to see whether or not it is from God". Christians today are biblically ignorant, therefore may are unable to test accurately. They blindly follow a charasmatic person without reading the entire bible themselves and testing what they were told, or what was done. Jesus warned us about false prophets and teachers, and to be on guard against them. Christians today lack discernment, thus they are easy targets for the wiles of the devil. Bretheren, pick up your bible and read it all YOURSELF, and measure everything against what it says. Don't blindly follow a man, follow Jesus instead. If you believe in Jesus and accept him fully and unconditionally, your sins are covered and completely forgiven. Now, does this make this act no less painful? "No." But if you believe, then you must forgive and move past this. I think that Pastor Morris should forfeit half and maybe more of his assets and give it to this young lady. So, that she can get any help she wants to help settle this wrong by a man that made a terrible mistake. Let’s not forget that it was Cindy’s dad that chose not to go to the authorities to have Robert arrested, but allow the pastor and the elders of the church judge the matter (1 Corinthians 6:1-2). Let’s also not forget that on October of 89, after the church’s pastor and elders had “judged” Robert, completed the restoration process and release him back into ministry, that now PASTOR Robert, for SEVEN months (something Cindy and her dad must’ve know) and his wife went to Cindy (now three months shy of her 20th birthday) and her dad’s home to ask for forgiveness. By ALL accounts Cindy and her dad forgave PASTOR Robert. Everything is possible, but it’s hard to believe that Cindy’s dad would grant Robert forgiveness if he was so much (according to Cindy) against him being back in ministry as a pastor. Of course he is now dead and has no say into Cindy’s allegations, now in 2024. So my question is, if she does not dispute that as an almost 20 year old “young lady” she and her dad forgave pastor Robert, what exactly, now at 54, is she after trying to crucify and destroy pastor Robert’s ministry and life because, supposedly, 16 years after “forgiving” him he would not give her fifty thousand dollars to help with the treatment for the damage that Robert supposedly inflicted on her?

Though horrible for an adult Robert, under God's grace qualifies for Jesus's forgiveness if he truly has repented of this heinous sin. That is what God's love and grace is all about. The journey of accountability to the traumatized victim and fellow Christian community is a separate matter. God said we 'ALL' have sinned and come short of God’s expectations for us. The sin of this world: "Celebrities!" Yes, we honor celebrities and allow them to do what they want because we don't care. They can lie to use, women singers can dance naked on stage or in videos, they can sing about sex and rape and that is OK. Those complaining are just getting abused and told off by the media and others. The charismatic churches do the same: We honor our pastors and want to be seen as church members, bragging with family and friends, rather than bragging about God! That is why those church members and those who did nothing. They were afraid of getting fired, maybe afraid of the news and what it will do to the church, and personal reasons as MOST of us would have. So don't blame them for doing what you would have done. Pray for those involved and make sure you stop making celebrities "gods" and start to honor God, our Savior.
