Nice plant selection! Have you ever considered a stepping stone path in your front garden? Great way to divide the space.

I was struck by how happy you looked in the thumbnail. You've worked hard last fall and this spring summer and your garden looks gorgeous. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Your yard is already beautiful!! You’ve done a lot!! Love how you mix your beds with trees, bushes, evergreens, and perennials flowers!! I live in northern Indiana and have been gardening 30 to 40 years and you have taught me to mix my borders with all the above. Thank you!!🩷🩷

Thank you Matthew. You’ve done a tremendous amount of work creating new gardens and it’s bringing your property to life ! Everything looks great well almost everything looks great we all have our trials and errors plus one NEVER knows what has happened in an area on our property previously . The soil could have been previously “ damaged “ somehow especially in a new construction area or in my case previous owners could have buried something, back in the day they buried trash which I’ve been finding . I live on an old property and as I dig I find broken bottles and random parts from old farm equipment. Sometimes kinda fun to see what was buried and not so much fun when I cut myself on glass. Thank you again and enjoy yourself when you come to my stomping grounds ! 🌺💚🙃

I've been watching you for awhile and when you mentioned Burns garden center and Grandma's garden and Natorps I was so excited because I never realized that you must live so close to me. I also shop at these places. They are incredible places to get plants. I must recommend Allison's gardens. She has the most beautiful plants and her green house always have the best discounted plants. The down fall to this is, she closes and reopens for a short time in the fall.

Oh that echinacea ♥️ I love them all ♥️ I added a bunch.. about 2 dozen to my garden this year.. white swan and paradise mix.. from seed 😊 I have a dew that are forgoing to give me a small bloom but I’m patient and am thrilled with their growth this year! Last plant for the season? Hmmm.. maybe that should be a challenge 😊😂 I am intentionally avoiding nurseries and garden centers. I have a dozen or so plants from spring/early summer that I still haven’t planted. Geums .. have you seen them before? They are gorgeous plants. Your gardens look amazing.. it’s crazy to think you’ve done this all in an about a year!

I was lucky enough to visit the Proven Winners test shrub garden this summer. Stunning! I was so impressed I have been reworking my garden with PW shrubs! I’m quite fortunate to live in Grand Haven near both Spring Meadows and Walters Garden, their products are available at local nurseries 🌼🐝

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to fast forward several years to see what our gardens will look like in the future? I know I sure would like to see mine more mature, everything in my garden is small and right now it looks messy to me but I know things will look much differently in the future when everything matures. 🌺💚🙃

Hi Matthew! Your gardens are so beautiful They've done so well this year. It's too bad the marguerite daisies aren't doing well. They were very pretty earlier. Your shrub bay has some really pretty plants in it. I'm looking forward to seeing where you plant everything, and to any more plants you add. It will be fun seeing what you do with the swing set area. Thank you so much for sharing!

With all you’ve done so far this season, I have to smile when I look at your shrub nursery. It seems to keep growing and growing! Seriously, I admire and am just a bit jealous of your energy and enthusiasm. Your gardens become more and more beautiful each time you post a new video. Enjoy Michigan and don’t break the bank!

What if you do a veneer of wood to stain and apply over the existing beams? Then you wouldn’t have to strip them. You could stain the veneer before you put them up. The kitchen has turned out so beautiful!! 😊

❤Sales are starting at Lowe’s for perennial plants since they’re getting in mums now. I need to split some herbs to move them around hoping to plant hydrangeas by them to trick the deer so they won’t make a snack out of the hydrangeas 😂. Honest, it’s all oregano, sage and cat nip.

My heart may not be able to take how beautiful your yard will be next year. I mean, it’s beautiful now, but next year it is really going to be a showplace. Good choice on the Brackens Brown Beauty. I’ve done tons of research on magnolias and that one is just the best in all categories. Speaking of magnolias, I ordered 3 Stellar Ruby Magnoilias from home depot I am excited about. I think they’re a cross with Magnolia and banana bush? They’re rated as hardy down to zone 7 but I watched a video Jim Putnam did with the inventor who said his had done fine when the temps dipped below zero a few times in his zone 7 yard. In another video, Jim said he really thought they would be hardy in lower zones. Just thought you might be interested since you are brave that way. 😎
@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden3 ай бұрын
That is pretty! Where did you end up getting it from?
@Debbie-ni8bc2 ай бұрын
I had to double check - I got them online from Plants by Mail. They are located in Loxley, Alabama down near the gulf. Jim Putnam has done several videos on site there and it seems to be a huge nursery. I think they sell to other nurseries but also have the online store. I don’t know about all that for sure, but I do know I have been very pleased with the plants I’ve ordered from them.

Margerite daisies are more of a cool weather plant and don't do well in heat. So no an error in location or water.
@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden3 ай бұрын
Not sure I believe that with this variety. They performed flawlessly a few months ago, which was our hottest time of year.

Matt, your garden is amazing, your hard work ethic is top notch! I live in SE Pennsylvania, and have planted verbena for the last 2 years, it's so pretty. But, I've noticed that when it's July and the hot, humid weather is upon us, it dies back, but afterwards, a few weeks later, it has a new flush and performs until frost. I do deadhead the spent blooms, too.

So glad you’re keeping the swing set. Have you contemplated painting it? I think a coat of dark Rustoleum would truly elevate the area.
@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden3 ай бұрын
I’ve considered it. I think it would use a ton of paint, but it may be worth it. I’m always concerned about flaking or other issues with spray paint on surfaces like that which would make it look worse in my opinion if that started.
@peggy-ann19613 ай бұрын
I agree Matthew. Although these surfaces can be painted for sure, weathering is always an issue after a couple years. Learned the hard way! 🇨🇦
