Thanks for the nice clear instructions on your videos this is one of my favorite KZbin channels and my top pick to learn games from. I just learned how to play Palace today from my speech therapist, as I am in a nursing home and game playing is used in many therapies. I liked it and am glad to have a "copy of the rules to save" through this video. You have taught me several games from scratch though, and I'm honestly grateful for it all.

Near the end, when Player 3 played blindly, they first beat the discard and the next turn blindly played a 10 and wiped the deck allowing their final card to be played. You never show what happens if the blind card played doesn’t beat discard.
@Kors_Cookie3 жыл бұрын
in that situation, if the flipped over doesn’t beat, then the discard pile would then have to be pick up by the player.

hmm i played it a little differently with the special cards. 2's make the next person pick up the pile, 7's mirror whatever the card is on top of the pile, 10's remove the pile and a new pile begins, and if u have 4 of the same value cards, it acts like a 10 is played. It's pretty fun this way, especially when u play a 2 lol
@blue_ranger10 ай бұрын
That's similar to the [excuse the term] Sh!thead version, which is quite good, despite the vulgar name. I bought one, and watched this video to see what, if any differences. In that deck, cards are 1-10, with the specials having icons printed on, (Burn, reset, mirror) the 2s have no consequence, but playing a 4 means the next player must play 4 or lower, if they do, the next player plays as normal, 6s make the next player miss a turn and 8s switch the direction of play. Great game though. Became an instant favourite in our house.

Very well explained - covered most of the scenarios. Question: If I have multiple 2s in my hand, can I play multiple times during my turn, Example: If I have two 2's in my hand, then can I play a 2 followed by a set of 3s, then a 2 again and followed by a set of 4s, before play moves to the next player.
@Neutr0n6243 жыл бұрын
No, in your example, the set of 3s would be the last thing you play. There's nothing about a set of 3s that means you get to play another card

@danielyuan98622 жыл бұрын

@BwantleyBoo5 жыл бұрын
When you use a 2 or 10 to reset the count, do you grab the already flipped cards and put them back into the deck to be drawn again? Or do you take them out of the game? Or do you leave them there. It seems like if you leave them there, the stack will be huge and by the end of the game , if you don’t have a card and you have to grab the cards in the middle , you will basically have an entire deck to deal with.
@GatherTogetherGames5 жыл бұрын
The 2 resets the count and the cards stay in the middle. The 10 clears the cards out of the game and a new pile is started.
@DangustheChunk2 жыл бұрын
@@GatherTogetherGames but what is the difference there in terms of play
@float32 Жыл бұрын
@@DangustheChunk2 leaves the cards in the discard pile. You just need to place a card 3 or higher next time. So, someone will eventually end up with the cards still under the 2. 10 means they’re removed from the game completely.
@earthling-ad2 жыл бұрын
We play a variant of this that we call 'sh!thead' that has more power cards. 7 makes the next player have to play a 7 or lower, 3 is see-through so the next player has to beat the card below it, and jokers are also see-through and reverse the order of play. We don't play that you get to play another card after resetting the deck with a 2.

When discarding face down cards, it doesn't matter if the discarded card is lower than the top of the pile?
@GatherTogetherGames5 жыл бұрын
A discarded card must be higher than the top of the pile. If a face down card isn't higher than the top of the pile, the player will take the discard pile. The cards in the discard pile then have to be played before return to your face down cards.

Rules I was taught: if a 7 is played (it cannot be played on a card with a higher value) the next player must play a card with a lower value than 7- it's a strictly worse 2. You can pick a card, 8 usually seems to be the main choice, to reverse turn order. This game can get going really fast, though, so honeslty fewer rules are better. That being said, I fully endorse the next player not being able to play until the previous players has drawn and decided what to do with their card.

Why are all of the examples only with power cards. The two and the ten. It makes it confusing to follow when playing with non power cards which is a majority of the game!
@TheAjRae3 жыл бұрын
With non power cards just “meet, or beat” aka an 8, you Meet it with another 8, to beat you must play something higher than an 8 aka 9, jack, queen, king (or one of the power cards: 10, ace, 2, 3, 7) You cannot play if you only have cards 4,5,6 (because they are lower than 8) and you’ll have to pick up the 8 and any cards underneath the 8.
