GATOR PATCH YOUR TWIN TROLLER X10
This video is about protecting the keel or the bottom of the Twin Troller X10 from damage generally caused by beaching the boat around a boat launch area. Other V-hull boats use similar items to protect the keel from damage while beaching your boat. Those items only stick well to fiberglass or aluminum or other smooth surfaced hull boats. The Gator Patch will adhere to the hull of the Twin Troller X10 or other plastic hull boats. Unlike other similar items this is cured by UV light.
I show preparing the boat for the Gator Patch and applying it to the hull. Watching this video will give you the confidence to do this yourself.

Good job Jerry, as usual, very informative. Keep doing the videos, especially ones where you fish . Purchased my Twin Troller last year, best fishing related purchase I've made. The Twin Troller is on the water two to three times a week in warmer weather. My 21' center console with the 200hp sits on the trailer most of the time. We appear too be close in age and fishing alone you understand why. I'm looking for a solution to remove oil stains from fish scents on the boat. Tried various cleaners. None have worked to my satisfaction. Do you have any suggestions?

Frank, Your comment on the oil stains from fish scents is interesting. I rarely use add-on scents any more. The only scent I use now is Mega Strike which comes in a tube like toothpaste. My primary purpose for using this product is not for the scent, but the lubrication. When I am flipping with a 1.5 oz tungsten weight and a punch bait I often rub the Mega Strike on the entire bait and weight to help it slip through the mat the fish below. I also use it on other baits like swimbaits to pull through weeds or other heavy cover. Because I apply the product directly to the bait manually it does not leave any residue in the boat so I guess I have no suggestions for you. Sorry! Afterthought: Automotive mechanics use a hand cleaner (I use Fast Orange brand) that will literally melts grease and oil off your hands with almost no scrubbing. Let us know if that works for you. Nice job. Rather than trust measuring, I make a template and make any adjustments on it. I’ve made repairs and letters on aircraft fabric and aluminum. Would the manufacturer consider providing similar protection during production?

I have had the Gator Patch on my hull since I produced this video in March of 2018. It sticks well to the hull material but I do not know how durable it is long term. I am very careful about how I beach the TT to launch and recover it so as to not wear the product through to the hull. Gerry

If it was not a sunny day or you live in a climate that does not get much sunlight I would agree. In Central Florida we get more sunshine than was necessary to cure the item just sitting in the driveway still on the trailer. Gerry

J Bay, Mine is holding up well however, I try to not beach the TT on concrete and whenever I can I beach it on sand. I am sure I will get some scratches on the Gator Guards over time but I kept some of the left over pieces from the package and will apply them over the wear holes if I need to. Thanks for asking. Just a thought, I bought a used TT that wasn’t taken care of at all and has severe scratches in some area kinda like those on your boat that you sanded down. Instead of sanding them off why not get a heat gun and melt the frilly plastic back down on the boat, it would also help fill in a lot of the scratch’s. That’s what I’m planning on doing to several of them on my boat.

Mike, that is a good idea. My scratches were not deep and I was trying for a smooth surface to apply the Gator Patch but I probably should have tried the heat gun approach. Let us know how that goes. Gerry

Milton, mine has held up well but I have been very careful with it when launching and returning to a concrete launch. I just barely let it touch when beaching then get out and lift the nose and drag the boat up a few feet then set it down again. Try searching places like eBay for it also. Gerry

Gerry, you could have used a sewing needle to get those air bubbles out - if you want it to look "pretty" that is.

Another owner tried that already. It does not adhere to the material the hull is made of. It peels off in large clumps in just a few days of use. The Gator Patch does not seem to be the best solution but so far it is lasting for me because i am very cautious with it. Thanks for the suggestion though, Gerry

Mine has been sticking well to my TT and no sign of delamination. I am very careful to not grind it into a hard surface like a concrete launch. I do not know how well it would hold up if I did. So far so good. Gerry

What is your favorite line to use? I use 20 pound braid with a 6 pound flourcarbon leader.

Funny, I probably use 30 pound braid the most but our tanic colored water allows that with no leader. Gerry

Eyedoc 83, So far they have held up well. I still try to not drive onto the concrete boat ramps and try to beach where there is sand covering part of the concrete just to make it softer on the hull. I spoke with David from Freedom Electric and he stated that a larger outboard would not increase the speed of the TT because the boat does not plane. If you were to use another outboard, I would consider one with similar HP to the Honda, but water cooled vs. air cooled. Water cooled outboards tend to be quieter.

Ron, I just saw your posting. That is true that water cooled are quieter. The Honda can be louder than others but it is much lighter also. In a small boat weight is a big deal. Gerry
