This was such a huge help for me. A friend of mine had given me a cover and the hardware off of a truck that was classified as totaled, so I didn't have a clue how to install it or what to do with the hardware. Very helpful video, thank you. On the Gator cover I just installed there are 2 additional straps that attach to blocks on the rail and are attached to the front bow. Are these safety straps? They can’t be cinched down

Mine came with a factory tri fold one and I love it. However, I haul bikes pretty often and so it doesn't work so well with that, but I love having the option!

Great video. I just got a 2020 Tacoma and I like this bed cover better than the $1,000 one's some of the shops around here are wanting. Plus if I want the warranty they have to install it, which is an extra charge.

We got one of these for our brand new Tacoma and what a horrible experience. We had a couple of complaints, first a small scuffed area and second the vinal was extremely loose and made it look like a old covered wagon. Both times I complained to Real Truck and received emails from extang which was weird and after a short time they marked our complaints as resolved and done. Which was crazy because nothing was even done. Terrible customer service from a company who claims 100% customer satisfaction, what a joke. I have had several tri folds and this is the worst one I ever had and am sad that we ordered this one. Good luck!

The Toyota OEM hard tri fold cover comes with rubber plugs for the gaps at the front of the bed. Don’t know if they are available separately though

Just put one on yesterday. Would be nicer if all 4 clamps were the quick lever type. I may want to remove it from time to time. Guess it will take a few extra minutes.

Do you need to add the weather strip on the bottom/back of the bed? So that it would look like one continuous strip going down the tailgate edge, across, then back up?

Have you gone through an automated car wash with this on? Curious if it needs to be removed beforehand. I live with heavily salted roads and wash my truck every few days to get any salt off.

I bought this cover and the back latches are spring loaded and don't lock in like this one, I can pull the end up even when in latch.

Do the rear latches seem to not quite tighten enough and if you tighten them more you can’t get latches out after getting them in ?

Can I take a soft trifold to a an auto car wash with spinning brushes. ?

Yeah no problem. Although I would highly recommend never ever going to those type of car washes. Touch washes with brushes and sponges will micro scratch your paint causing swirl markes. The best way to keep your paint looking brand new is no touch washes and hand washes using the two bucket method. A ceramic coating or wax helps with keeping it cleaner longer too.

Get foam to fill those holes or caulking. That’s not on the bed cover. Non Tacoma’s have the whole front of the bed to drain

Dude you literally just call gator and they will send you a foam seal to stop the water leaks because they are supposed to be water tight

DO NOT BUY the hardcover tri-fold for second gen Tacoma's the mounting hardware used on the accessories rails is trash. It doesn't let the rail sit low enough. All other trucks it's good and mounted properly. For tacoma's, it doesn't sit right and it's not secure. A serious risk of it getting sucked off your truck while driving. On top of that, it doesn't seal well enough to keep water out. It is also not secure and can be easily opened even when the tailgate is closed. Buy a different brand/design.

I bought a trifold gator cover from real truck and I must say I am not happy with it. The material is not tight and holds water in the rain. I have a 2023 Tacoma and have had the cover on it less than 2 months. Get a different tonneau cover.
