I went through interferon treatment for skin cancer, my doctor gave me Ativan for nausa. I took the ativan until my treatment stopped and then stopped talking the Ativan. I walk around my kitchen table for 3 days, I couldn't sit down, the anxiety was horriftic. I had no CLUE about Benzo's and the doctor gave me no warnings. I went back to him and told him how awful and anxious I was feeling and he said, you're stressed about having cancer, take your Ativan, and so I did for another 6 months, I got up to 6 Mgs a day. I finally got on line and figured out what was wrong with me. I tappered off, that was 15 years ago. and while I don't feel daily issues with the withdrawal, I can you tell my brain and centeral nervous was damanged by the Ativan and to this day I get anxious and have bad side effects when I take any medication. The withdrawal was a living hell, please do not take benzo's, it's evil shit.

@EndofMusic Is it drug related? If not maybe it's depression. My fiance died on November 8, 7 months after giving birth to our daughter. I pretty much went back to having no feelings after she died. I had to figure something out for our daughter so she would have a parent that could raise her properly. I started therapy back in February, it has helped so much. I'm trying to stay away from the SSRIs because I don't want to be on them for the rest of my life. Having zero emotions and no feelings sucks. Everything was grey for a while so I know what you're feeling. I've gone through it twice. You can't live your best life feeling that way. You owe it to yourself to figure it out.

Bush was always dressed up grunge-oriented rock, whereas AIC struck me as almost 85% grunge, 15% rock and while I prefer rock, I ave been on a grunge kick lately and really appreciating Nirvana - after aall these years. Still love Seether, and early grunge Nickelback really isn't bad...just formulaic, but tey do gard rock well. finally sober from benzos & opiates after 4 brutal years of using everyday. it may not seem like long compared to others who’ve used for 10+ years but trust me, the withdrawal is still just as a bad. i think i’ve pretty much traumatized my family members & my ex with my seizures, being dopesick needing money, etc. i’m currently trying to wean off antidepressants. i miss my childhood so much, where all this withdrawal & pain wasn’t even the slightest concern of mine.

I've been on Xanax for about 15 years, 12 years consistently. I know it has a bad reputation but it really helps me a lot with my mental health. However I will say that the physical withdrawal is wicked. There have been a couple of occasions where I couldn't access my medicine for a day or two due to public holiday or supply shortage and I experienced terrible physical withdrawal - heart palpitations, jitters, cramps, hot and cold flushes and sore muscles but the insomnia and mental aspect is horrendous too. Your mind goes to really dark places. I don't think I could deal with quitting cold turkey. I have also found that when I was younger I was able to take it twice a day but now that I'm older for some reason it wears off quickly and so I actually have to break my pills in half and take half a tablet four times a day instead of one tablet twice a day otherwise I start to feel sick. I have found that while this method means the medication does not come on as strong at least I feel even throughout the day. I have the same issue with my pain medicine. They are supposed to be effective for 8-12 hours but my body metabolises it quickly so I have to take smaller but more frequent doses in order to avoid the discomfort of withdrawal. When I was in my 20s I could handle the cold turkey symptoms if I had to but now I'm 36 it is much harder. My advice to anyone young who is on Xanax is only use it when you need it and if you are able to come off them then do it now, taper off it while you are young. It only gets harder in time. But there are obviously ppl like me where the good outweighs the bad so we continue on them. I only wish modern medicine would design drugs that have the same benefits as benzos and opiates but don't have the nasty withdrawal symptoms.

I too was addicted to Xanex and it was a low dose at 0.5 but I took them everyday at night for 15 years and getting off them was a slow process tapering off but even going through the tapering the withdrawal was very uncomfortable and lasted for months

I was on anxiety medication for GAD & panic disorder for .. 12 years now? I’ve been trying to come off of it but having trouble with my current living situation. Honestly it’s a horrible drug, I’ve been without for almost a week once or twice, the WDs are nastier than “heroin”, they say. But you CAN GET THROUGH IT. I hate personally that because of people simply to put this knowledge forward for good reasons; wanting doctors to hold themselves accountable for explaining and understanding this..that instead of that happening… at all.. the FDA/DEA is cracking down on the number of prescriptions. What if I tried rehab, tried doing it medically assisted by my doctor and I don’t have a child am not pregnant so… would like to stay on it? Since around 2014 I’ve been having to do a song and dance to keep my medication which is by the way, the only reason I can make it to work and even with it some days are extremely hard, sometimes the only reason I am alive I agree agree agree with a lot of the comments I’ve read and I’m not trying to take anything away from any of you ❤ I pray the best for all of you. However, I still think that there is something a tad wrong with the system here.

@@manager4409 They can be terrifying and prolonged. This guy got off mildly, trust me. Benzo's can take month's or years before you actually get back to being somewhat normal. But the anxiety and fear can linger forever. I'm 7 months clean and still my anxiety and fear has not yet settled. The worst will pass in a month or 2 and then the rest will linger. Everyone's different, but this guy obviously hadn't abused them like most as he was getting them prescribed. I was taking between 10 - 20 x 10mg valium a day and at my worst took 48 in a day. I was addicted for 3-4 years, had 6 seizures in that time, hospitalised for 9 days only to go right back to them. Benzodiazapine's are the worst withdrawals to go through. Absolute hell on earth. I’ve never seen someone so close to me go off the deep end so fast than with Xanax. She began snorting it. At first I thought she had a brain tumor because we quit oxy together not long before. She was acting like she did this new chapter with me, but then she kept getting worse and worse. She totaled my car, had a seizure on the floor of my kid’s room (while the child wasn’t home thank God) and eventually had a full blown intervention. Full on psychosis. She still hasn’t stopped but keeps pretending that she’s sober and lying. It’s traumatic and heartbreaking.
