Derek and Cameron are not your typical gay couple. For starters, in his 26 years on the planet Derek has never been with a man sexually, thought about men sexually, or fantasized about them in any way sexually or romantically; although now he finds himself ensconced and in love with one. Cameron on the other hand is an avid athlete, former high school and college jock, outgoing, politically active, outspoken gay man who has been out to everyone around him, proudly, since he was 15. Cameron's biggest political statement is he can't imagine why any gay man would demonstrate anything as low in self esteem as chasing after str8 men until he himself finds himself in love with one. Brought to you by the team that brought you the Award winning "Thirteen or so Minute..." and "Triple Standard" DEREK and CAMERON is a web series about an unconventional gay couple and their extended friends and families. Sometimes funny, sometimes sarcastic, often times unnerving DEREK and CAMERON proves that really, bottom line, it is love, honesty and connection that make a relationship work, not all those things we say we are or who we pretend to be.

47cybele59 I think he is referring to the actors. Even today in Hollywood, out gay actors still have to contend with stigma and leading man roles are harder to come by. We're making progress, but there's still a long way to go.

I "Liked" this movie and I really wanted to love watching it - but the background traffic noise from the highway meant that I could not hear parts of the film. Sadly I ended up not watching the full film. Yours constructively and best wishes for the future.

yeah, its the travesty of no budget filmmaking. KZbin does not pay for these, nor do our viewers all of the financing is completely out of pocket as we DO pay our actors and crew. Sorry to disappoint you!

The acting and technical aspects of the episode seem fine to me with the exception of the choreography of the wrestling scene which fell a bit short of appearing realistic. My problem is with the inconsistencies in the characters and story line. How do we get from Cameron looking at another guy to Derek accusing him of being a coward? Derek gave up everything for this. What the hell does that even mean? He comes across as someone who has already been in a couple of bad relationships (even though they seem too young to have had too many serious long-term relationships) so I find it hard to believe that's he's just now come out to his family and been rejected and lost everything. Are they even a couple? I don't get it. Is Cameron looking at another guy somehow supposed to indicate to us that he and Derek have just recently hooked up a few times and think they want to have a relationship (apparently live together) but Cameron still hasn't committed to being mutually exclusive yet? I just don't know. Derek comes across as being so insecure that he's never going to be able to maintain a relationship with anyone until he deals with his own issues but you can just see that the writers are going to force them through this hopeless misery. (Of course being a story it can be made to miraculously all work out when in reality it never would.) Then I feel like the writers want me to take sides with Derek against Cameron but I can't. If Derek means so much to Cameron why isn't he going back to try and work things out instead of hanging out with Andrea? Why does he walk off with a big grin on his face and not a care in the world when Derek just broke the relationship off? Shouldn't he be devastated or at least mildly upset? Then the comment by Andrea that Derek is the least intimidating person she knows and yet we just witnessed him being the most "in your face" character in the whole episode. Even the rough and gruff Lance is less intimidating. I can't picture Cameron slapping Derek on the ass without getting punched in the mouth. I feel like the characters have dual personalities or are psychotic. Then Andrea says, "Why can't Cameron just be straight?" Really? I can only hope that the writers improve(d) as the series progresses but I won't be watching any more because the holes in the writing up to this point have just been too big to overlook. If this is any indication of how the future episodes are going to go then I'm not interested in the least.
