Gayatri Mantra Sadhana - Best Time for Mantra Chanting

In this discourse, Om Swami answers questions related to Gayatri Mantra Sadhana in Toronto.
The first question - It is said even though the soul is it's own guru, to show the path does one needs a sadguru, and does a soul choose its sadguru before taking its physical form - Is this true? Om Swami says one's job is to stay sincere on the path and the kind of guru you will end up meeting will depend largely on the person you are. We attract a guru based on where we are on our journey. But this cannot be an excuse to not do your sadhana by saying you are waiting for a guru.
The second question - What is the best timing for mantra chanting? Om Swami says, the more you chant the more you can use that energy when things are not going well in your life. There are three main times (Sandhya) - morning, afternoon, and evening. Pick any of those times or all three. But, there are no restrictions as such.
The third question - Why is it important to use Gomukh (chanting bag) for your mala? Om Swami says, to at a high level to protect them from touching the floor, and other unwanted areas. But at a deeper level, they say that you seek privacy when one does Bhog or Yoga. Sadhana is not a public thing, it is a private thing. When you chant it's a purification of the soul, you don't want to exhibit this to the world. In the same spirit, the Gomukh helps keep your chanting beads private.

Par aaj agar socha jaaye suppose aap well settle ho k shaadi kar lete aur apni family life chalaate to ye samaaj..ye duniya kitne mahaan saint ko kabhi mil ya dekh nahi paati...aaj kitne logon ki family ka aap hissa ho... Kitne log aapko saamne rakh ke jivan jeete hain... Kitne logon ke sukh dukh aapse jurr gye hain....ek insaan par kripa ki bhagwan ne aur uska phal kitne log chakh rahe hain... Aisi baatein... Aise waakya bahut durlabh hote hain.... Jis jis ko bhi jivan mein guru mile... Unko guru ki aagya aur rza mein rehkar jivan bitaana chahiye... Kyunki wo guru bahut barre balidaan dekar guru bna hai...hum sabko nirantar unki aagya ka paalan krna chahiye... Yahi unko asli pranaam hota hai...

Only spiritual master who pays so much attention to putting in your own effort and leads by example. He is the only one who says 4 hrs of minimum meditation to move the needle. Others would make u believe 20 min is enough and nothing really happens with that.
