Gayle, if you wish to make holes in card to sew it into fabric, use your sewing machine with no thread, on the longest stitch length.

Oh my gosh! What a fabulous idea! Belly bands make the perfect small slow stitch project for doing during TV time. Now I just need to get some prepared to stitch up. Jolene and I both hand/slow stitch wall hangings, which take forever, I can’t wait to try these instead! Thanks for the inspiration sissy! Big hugs! 🤗💖🤗

These work for me!!!! Old timer 4-Her with my sewing tins so I can do slow stitch/back stitch/running stitch while I recuperate my community pneumonia. The hospital loaded me up with a year's supply of face masks in a rainbow of colors. My brain let loose with watercolors and markers first. Then stitched up the middle so I could curvy cut all the way up or zigzag. Stitch or glue. Makes great ruffle tags, belly bands, and jazzy cluster bits. I'll take my tin with me the next time I'm out of quarantine to visiting room at ER and share with quilting club: Introducing Betty Butler's MAGIC MASK Ruffles

They all turned out beautiful! When you were thinking you wanted to add a word or phrase to one, I was busy telling you I just saw a lady on Etsy today selling words and phrases printed on cloth. :) Hole punching TH paper ephemera was a great idea - the only thing I thought of was some of his metal word or quote bands because they have holes on the ends to stitch through but it would add a lot more bulk than the paper ephemera and not near as much variety - love your paper idea! Take care and God bless...Sheila

Gayle...look up the “back stitch” I think that’s what it’s called and it is very easy. I use it to outline things...I’m a newbie too so I’m glad you did this video. The only things I’ve been stitching is lap blankets...they are 10” squares of various fabric pieces that I machine sew into a lap quilt and then I slow stitch on all 24 squares while I’m watching tv. Then I put a plain back on it to cover all my knots and machine quilt across all my seams. I bind it around the edges and have given them to my three adult kids, daughter in law and granddaughter. I can’t believe I’ve done so many but it’s very therapeutic for me. This idea of yours will help me do something a little bit different...I love it!

I'd also love to see you use lots of texture with yarn/thread again. You did a belly band/side tuck with tons of yarn (I think in the Winter Journal?) and it just has stuck with me - I loved it so much. Also, YT did you dirty today with the ads. I know I’m behind on watching videos, only by a day because I went birding yesterday. But, between watching Amy at Crafty Cat working on Cindy’s sewing journal and then watching you do this, this is going to be my next spine cover. Amy did this on her spine by putting a bunch a little scraps but she sewed it on the machine. I think I’m going to give this a shot. My next journal is going to be a 2 1/2 inch spine floral themed journal with five signatures, I’ve never made one that large before but looks like I’m going to do a scrappy slow stitched spine cover or I may just do it on the machine like Amy did, depends on how lazy I am at the time when I get that far. I haven’t even started it yet, well I gutted the book and put Tyvek in the spine and I’ve printed a bunch of papers but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. 😂
